The ONLY thing that makes me even the slightest bit interested is that Mel Brooks is involved. I'm still extremely skeptical that they can pull this off. The actor has confirmed that he is working with the legendary funnyman on a sequel to Brooks’ 1987 hit film “Spaceballs.” Gad shared the news, first reported by The InSneider, on his verified social media. “My phone has never exploded as hard as it did today. We are very excited!” Gad wrote. “Early days still, but working with the legendary Mel freaking Brooks to make something worthy of this franchise and his legacy has been a dream come true.” He also wrote that he worships “at the alter of all things Brooks and we are doing everything in our power alongside Mel to make sure you get what you’ve waited 37 long years for. EVERYTHING.” The original film has a cult following. It was co-written by Brooks and was a parody of popular space and sci-fi movies. Brooks, 97, costarred in the original along with a star-studded cast including Rick Moranis, John Candy, Bill Pullman and Daphne Zuniga. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Cautiously optimistic. Gad has been in a few known movies, probably most notable as Olaf in the Frozen movies. He was also in the V Vaughn/O Wilson movie The Internship, with a fairly small role [headphones guy]. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

If you're honest you'll admit the original is one of those movies that "remembers" A WHOLE LOT better than it "watches". So even if it's... just as good, you'll think it sucks. Because, you know, it does. | |||

I have to agree, 100%. And I hope I am wrong 100%. The only way corporate Hollywood DEI don’t fuck it to hell…hire the South Park guys to write it. Whomever the writer is, and the studio purse holders may be, they better be South Park fans or prepare to be severely disappointed. I don’t even watch South Park, never have outside of people hounding me. Tricks are for kids. But at least a cartoon is standing up against the Mob. What am I doing?
