Always appreciate a good science fiction series. Watched the first episode. I wanted it to be good. Absolutely horrible. What a disappointment. Sometimes I'll give a show a second chance. Not sure I could stomach a second look.

That's a shame. I really like Alan Tudyk.

Thanks for saving me from wasting my time.

I’ve been recording and watching old Twilight zone episodes on SYFY, and there are at least two commercials each half hour for Resident Alien. That turned me off enough that I have no interested in seeing it. The vibe that I got was “oh look, here’s Alan Tyduk being weird and quirky again in a sci-fi show”. Hard pass.

Just to clarify a little why it was so terrible, good science fiction requires the ability to suspend disbelief. Whether it's The Expanse, movies like ET, Independence Day, TV series like Star Trek and countless others you can watch and think, people (or aliens) would act like that. You can put yourself mentally in the show.

Not with this. The humans all act dumb. The alien (who murders a human as soon as he arrives) acts crazy. It's like the show can't decide if it's science fiction, a comedy, a murder mystery or what. The alien is a shape shifter who can assume human form any time he wants. The whole thing just comes across as dumb. That's why I didn't like it.

Both my husband and I share Fed161's excellent assessment of the show. I really wanted it to be good.

I'm a big fan of Alan Tudyk, so based on that alone, I may give it a few episodes in the hopes that it will settle in.

My wife and I find it oddly entertaining.

May I suggest watching it before you write it off.

Also, I hated Farscape for the first season. It got better.

I wanted to like it.

I thought it was a failure. The plot is implausible. The characters are shallow and insulting stereotypes. Only one of the characters is remotely likeable. Most of the action is an alien doing socially inept crap.

A couple of the one-liners made me smile.

Mork made it work, but Alan Tudyk isn't Robin Williams.

Watched the first episode, not too good. Decided to give the second a shot and quit about halfway through. Even worse.

My wife and I watched the first 3 episodes last night, both of us liked it enough; a different kind of show from what we usually prefer, but we enjoyed it enough.

We don't have the SYFY channel, so I'll be checking to see if they continue streaming it...

Tudyk makes it watchable. Second episode was not as good as the pilot, but I’m gonna stick with it for awhile.

My wife and I are watching and think it's funny. Not really looking at it as "Sci Fi" - just a comedy for the most part.

Tudyk can make some really wild faces and noises. The cop is funny too.

I saw what I think was the Pilot on cable the other evening. It was definitely not what I expected, and I didn't really care for it. I doubt I'll watch any further episodes.

I've kept watching it. The plot is uneven and seems pretty dumb. In many ways it seems like it's the "The Big Bang Theory" meets "Alf" really smart nerdy guy tries to figure out humanity. Of course, in this case the really smart nerdy guy wants to destroy humanity.

I think it's funny but I won't mope when it is cancelled.

I don’t know why it’s so hard to make a good show. They have a lot to work with. It’s almost like the failure and overall crappiness is purposely built in

Yes, it seems to be trying too hard at times, but that doesn't stop me from literally laughing out loud other times.

That last part almost never happens with me during a TV show, so it's more of an achievement than just reading about it suggests.

Watching it on Paramount +.
It is kinda funny I guess "not bad" is what I would say.
Don't know why anyone would call it horrible but certainly watchable.
Cool
