I take the train to and from work, so I need something to keep my mind occupied. I signed up to Audible and started using my tokens to buy books.

I love sci-fi, action-adventure, apocalypse and military books. I started with the Bobiverse series, and some Alien books.

On a whim I bought Expeditionary Force: Columbus Day by Craig Alanson just based on the book cover art. Holy crap!! I love this series. The narrator is RC Bray, this dude has a great voice and just brings the characters to life. The Expeditionary Force series is just fun, full of action, sarcastic laugh out loud humor, and fantastic characters.

Another really good author is Joshua Gayou. His Commune series is deep, dark and kicks ass. His newest stand alone novel is All Gifts, Bestowed. This story is so well done, edgy and thought provoking. These are also narrated by RC Bray.

I just finished the first three books of the Arisen series by Michael Stephen Fuchs and Glynn James. This is an apocalyptic zombie series that is heavily from a military perspective. I am left wanting more, so I will be buying this whole series in the future.

Anyway, if you are into fun, action-packed, smart sci-fi with great characters, check out the Expeditionary Force series. To me it is an awful lot like Firefly.

I'm on book 4 of Expeditionary Force. It's a little mindless, but very well performed.

We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis Taylor was a ton of fun.

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson is also epic. The female narrator took a little getting used to, but stick with it.

Try Monster Hunter International. The author is obviously very gun saavy. It is like listening to gun porn.

Got hooked when i had an 1 1/2 hour commute in the CA bay area (Pittsburg to Fremont). Listened to Honor Harrington series, all available Louis Lamours, Sharpes Rifles, Jack Aubrey, David Drakes Hammers Slammers amoung many others. I am now retired in Tennessee with no commute, an I still use Audible. Just started the Witcher series...

I listen to Audible during road trips. And I agree that RC Bray is one of the best audiobook narrators out there today.

I especially like their "Audio Dramas", which are audiobooks produced like old school radio plays, with separate voice actors for the various characters, plus music and sound effects. Straight narration is often great, but audio dramas are the next step. Sort of like a movie just without the visuals.

I listen to Audio books nearly every day.

I go for the longer books of 20 hours or more and I look for series like the wheel of time etc.

I have gone down many rabbit holes Smile

Guys. If you love some crude humor. Just go get this one: At Night She Cries, While He Rides His Steed

It's so good. Had me LOL'ing in the repeatedly. If you like it there is a follow up: When Darkness Falls, He Doesn't Catch It

Train how you intend to Fight

Remember - Training is not sparring. Sparring is not fighting. Fighting is not combat.

I have a bunch on an external drive for loading onto usb for use in about every car made in the last 10 years.

For a really enjoyable listen, get Cryptonomicon; you will not be disappointed. I have been driving and barked out laughing more times than I can count during this book.

Yeah. I have been listening for several years since I spend so much time in my car. I couldn't agree more on Gayou's Commune series. It is excellent and Brays brings characters alive.

Check out Graphic Audio! Different voice actors for different characters. Some sound effects too! I've listened to over 500 titles in the past 10 years or so starting with The Deathlands. Graphicaudio.net

I've "read" and enjoyed virtually everything you listed. Here's a couple you might enjoy: Fear the Sky/Survivors/Future which is a three part series by Stephen Moss narrated by RC Bray and The Survivalist Series by A.American narrated by Duke Fontaine.

I listen to a ton of non-fiction- mostly military history and classical history on Audible. There are college lectures as well, if you have any academic interests. I prefer to read fiction (fantasy/scifi) at night in bed.

I listen to a lot of books on Audible. When I was working, it was a great way to “read” during my commute. Even now that I’m retired, I’ll go for long drives out in the country and listen to a book.

I mostly listen to non-fiction history: David McCullough, Shelby Foote, Robert Caro, etc.
