Would have been better to bring back Doug Bradley. He did an amazing job in that role.

I’m waiting for Frita Krueger.

You're hung up on the gender of a being from another dimension that's an angel to some and demon to others? Smile

And it deviates from the original story without adding something. Again.

Well, the protagonist this time is male correct?

At least they traded looks evenly. Almost a radical break from the new normal.

Actually, in the source material (Clive Barker's original novel that the film was based upon), the Cenobites are described as androgynous/genderless beings.

So if we're going to be sticklers for the original story, it doesn't really matter if it's a male playing Pinhead, or a female playing Pinhead, or a male playing a female playing Pinhead. Because Pinhead is neither male nor female, as originally written.

If we were to assign a gender, based on the original description of Pinhead, it probably ought to be played by a girl... The original description highlights Pinhead's voice as "light and breathy - the voice of an excited girl". Then it goes on to describe how the pins driven into its head were covered in decorative jewels.

That doesn't sound very masculine to me.

(Granted, Pinhead's backstory was later expanded in the third film to include him being a WW1-era British Army officer who was transformed into a Cenobite after opening the puzzle box and being judged worthy. But that's not "the original story". And one could still argue that, just like how the hellish transformation renders a Cenobite beyond human, it also renders them beyond gender.)

Wow. I mean when it comes to gun ID, I knew you were tops, but I thought I had some nerd cred. But this, well, this takes the nerd cake to the nerd prom and marries it to have nerd children and little nerdy grandchildren.

I bow, defeated by a master.

Well pinhead is a chick not androgynous. And the main character’s brother is gay and I just had to fast forward him in bed with a guy.

So I wasn’t wrong. More woke bullshit.

Yeah, I have my doubts that the change from male to female Pinhead was to be more faithful to canon and source material. I suspect there was some other reason for that decision.

I did not finish it, but I will. The gay shit is annoying as hell. But my buddy stopped by and he's having woman issues so I had to stop the movie.

I'll report back when I have time to watch the entire thing.

Well overall it wasn’t horrible. Pinhead did seem a bit more androgynous once shown more. But the femininity made pinhead less frightening. Nothing really scared me or creeped me out. Maybe just because I’m older and I don’t get bothered by movies anymore.
