is it a good movie? absolutely not, this is not fine cinema.
is it a good time? absolutely.
We all know the cartoon was to sell toys, they lean into that here. If you're inclined go in to it and turn off your brain for a while. I'd recommend getting a big beer and laughing at how silly it is.

How is it compared with the first movie?

It looks to be on par with Flash Gordon which means I will totally watch it.
-- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is.
Soundtrack is epic, Brian May transported me right back to the 80’s
Jared Leto nailed Skeletor.
It was exactly the kind of movie we need to kick off Summer - fun and didnt take itself too seriously

I will see or own this one eventually. I even like the first one with Dolph and my son loved it. Sure it was a campy 80s Canon group film, but I am easily entertained.

Ohhh my God……..they didn’t shit all over my childhood. Just back from seeing this with my daughter. We both loved it. It was just, FUN. No messages, no deconstruction, no grimdark realism. It was just a more violent/bawdier He-Man cartoon. The costumes and characters were great, the weapons were great the callbacks/Easter eggs were great.
As was said above it definitely has that 80s Flash Gordon vibe to it.
Is it campy? Yeah Is it a great piece of cinema? Hell no. Is it fun. Absolutely and it respects your childhood memories. Skeletor even busts out a “You boob” .
If you just want a fun “cartoon” of a movie and you remember anything from the old Filmation He-Man and the toys, I think you will enjoy it. There are 3 after credits scenes just fyi.
