It's a beautiful day and I'm taking care of some house chores... I've got the stereo cranked and the house windows open. (Sixty-six degrees in early November -- I love it!)

I'm streaming some Pandora, jamming away with Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top and many more, when suddenly I hear a version of "Edge of Seventeen" I had never heard before.

The description shows "Edge of Seventeen (with the Melbourne Symphony)(Live 2006)"

Man, I stopped what I was doing to listen to that one. As many times as I've heard that song (including having seen her in person some years ago), no performance was quite like that one.

Enjoy, y'all!

Ok, now I have to try to get a copy of the bootleg of the show. Really would like to wonder why the decided to never release it.

From the webs :
Stevie Nicks featuring the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

On February 18, 2006, Stevie Nicks performed in concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The special concert took place at Rod Laver Arena in Victoria’s Melbourne City Centre. During the show, Nicks dedicated “Landslide” to concert promoter Andrew McManus (of McManus Entertainment), thanking him for coordinating the Australian leg of the Gold Dust Tour.

Although the show was filmed for DVD, it was never released to the public. (A high-quality bootleg video recording of the entire show has been circulating in collectors’ circles.) Because of technical problems, Nicks had to re-record “Outside the Rain” and “Dreams” at the end of the show, still dressed in the unique outfit she wore for “Beauty and Beast,” the last song of the set. Whether technical problems were a factor in the decision to pull the release is unknown. Two audio tracks from the show — “Landslide” and “Edge of Seventeen” — surfaced a year later on the retrospective Crystal Visions…The Very Best of Stevie Nicks (2007).

Forgive the slight thread drift, but saw Stevie (with Billy Joel) in concert last night.

At 75 years old the woman still has the chops, voice sounded fantastic and she danced like she was 24. Stevie told some fun stories about some of the songs, recognized that her ex (but only) husband was in the audience, and genuinely seemed to have a good time.

Her duet with Joel of Stop Dragging my Heart Around was fantastic, they both got into he part.

The closing rendition of Landslide had montages of her and Christine McVie, it had my girlfriend sobbing and Stevie herself got choked up a few times while singing the song.

Pretty cool experience to see and hear one of the greatest songs ever written, performed by the person who made it famous.

Side note: Billy Joel was fun too…he had a sense of humor about getting older and not being able to hit the high notes anymore.

When he went to fit himself for the harmonica to start Piano Man he had just finished a pretty energetic song and had to restart the piano part so he could catch his breath for a minute - he played that up to the crowd a bit.

I’ve always heard that as male Divas go, Billy Joel is amongst the top, but he sure is able to to still put on a great show.

Awesome!

About a dozen years ago, I got to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in concert. Unexpectedly (as in, not previously announced), Stevie Nicks showed up. That show was one of the best I've seen, no doubt about it.

God bless America.
