We watched a movie last night revolving around a subject I knew nothing about, saturation diving. The theatrical movie follows a documentary movie with the same title, Last Breath, a true story about a diving accident in the North Sea.

Woody Harrelson is in the 2025 release. He plays Duncan Allcock, one of three members of the dive team and all use the real names of those involved in the incident.

Here are two videos. The first is from ARAMCO and explains saturation diving. The second is a trailer for the movie we watched.

I thought it was great. I believe Netflix has the documentary movie (same director as the theatrical version). We watched the movie on Peacock, don’t know if it’s available elsewhere.

I believe they use an oxygen/helium mix, so their voices would be a bit higher pitched.
I worked alongside some Sat divers in the Navy. They often talked about the high pay of the oil rig jobs, but also several incidents where the divers died. Seems like a horrible way to go.

Gruesome for sure, but considering you’ll probably be dead before you feel anything. The Byford Dolphin divers, for example.

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

Cave diving, wreck diving—they’re bad enough. You’d not going to get me to watch a movie about this. Nightmares for a lifetime.

A very good book is "Shadow Divers - The True Story of Two Americans Who Risked Everything to Solve One of the Last Mysteries of World II" by Robert Kurson. There is also a documentary about his on PBS.

My wife's contract with me has a specific clause regarding underwater caves Big Grin

I'd never get her to watch this one with me.

A big plus one on that. Shadow Divers was an excellent book.
