This is a very long and detailed PDF read. At first it would stop scrolling, if I right clicked it and selected next page it would continue with no problems. It gets into the the calibers and guns used on both sides, I'm sure it's not for everyone, but hopefully someone else will find it interesting. Keep in mind that this happened in July and what land they crossed is still very hard to hike to this day. I live in the area and highly recommend Fort Bowie along with Tombstone if you ever happen to wander over hither or yonder to check out the history around here. This PDF is we'll written and very specific on the battle, one of the best I've seen. https://npshistory.com/publica...rr-2016-1361-nsv.pdf

Thanks for this info. Have hiked into Fort Bowie and agree it's not for the faint of heart but worth it.( Not in the summer) John in Yuma

Thanks for posting this. I'll have to settle in for a good read when I have the time. I think I'll have to take my family out there. Looks like an interesting hike! ______________________________________________ Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

Best plan would be to drive to the visitor center, take the top hiking trail to the parking area, then go from the parking area through the canyon back to your car. Bring a picnic lunch and have it at the visitor center before you leave. Chiricahua National Park is right there too, but being a 3h one way drive for you, prolly not enough time. Hotel in Benson and see Kartchner Caverns in the morning would work though if you wanted to fit Tombstone in and see them all.
