Help! Help! I'm being repressed! |
Man, another good season IMO. Don't date Joyce.

Get on the fifty! |
My only beef... SPOILERS YOU'VE BEEN WARNED If the Mormon girl hadn't of made him sing that stupid song Hopper would not have died (or at least been zapped somewhere) due to the time wasted. It was just a weird attempt at a tension break or something in a scene that had no need for it. Came off as sloppy. "Pickin' stones and pullin' teats is a hard way to make a living. But, sure as God's got sandals, it beats fightin' dudes with treasure trails." "We've been tricked, we've been backstabbed, and we've been quite possibly, bamboozled."

Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
I read nothing as I don’t want it spoiled. We watched the first episode last night and it was decent a fresh slow opener not bad to ease back into it. I grew up in the 80s so I love the 80s subtleties and pick them up pretty well. Though unless I am off, which could be the case, there was glaring inaccuracy in their timeline at the pool. The opening Russian scene takes place on June 28, 1984 and then on to Hawkins you get the One Year Later banner making it 1985. The lady at the pool is drinking New Coke which is fitting for summer of 1985 but then outcomes the life guard (forget the characters name) and he refers to the kid running as Lard Ass. I take Lard Ass as a reference to the great film Stand By Me but Stand By Me did not come out until 1986. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Ah, but Stand By Me is a flashback to the 50s, meaning the term "Lard Ass" would already be known 30 years later. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

I can definitively say the term lard ass was being used in the late 70s and early 80s —————————————————— If the meek will inherit the earth, what will happen to us tigers?

Finished it. Good stuff, I hope there's a "4". (and judging by the "post-goodbye" scene in Kamchatka, there should be) They'll probably have to <Schwarzeneggarvoice> get to the Hopper!</Schwarzeneggarvoice> _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

Spoilerz... Given that Baywatch got a better death montage than you know who, I doubt we've seen the last of him. ---------------------------------------- Death smiles at us all. Be sure you smile back.

The Duffer Bros. have already said there will be a forth (and likely final) season. They said in several interviews last year that they have a specific story/outline. They figured four seasons, maybe five (but unlikely) to tell the tale, and once told the series will end.

Go ahead punk, make my day |
Great season, very well done - they have the knack for the scene / era music mix down pat. A 4th season is a sure thing but it sounds like it will end after that, although they have mentioned a 5th or a final movie to end it. Either way, if they keep the standard up, I'm sure we'll be pleased. It's also a great show just to throw on and re-watch casually.

No good deed goes unpunished |
Just finished the final episode last night. I liked Season 3. It did evoke a sense of nostalgia which is part of the enjoyment. Mild spoilers ahead. The subplot that I enjoyed most was Steve Harrington, Robin, Dustin, and Erica and the Russian base. Robin and Steve have a good rapport. The bickering between Joyce and Hopper was awful. I fast-forwarded through most of that. Agree that the Susie song break was out of place (or poorly done) and wasted valuable time.

I didn’t like season 3. It felt very slap stick to me. The goofy bickering, the teenage angst, the seriously stupid singing scene which absolutely killed Hopper. Of course he probably isn’t dead but somehow in a Russian prison cell. Speaking of which, how did a 20 stories down secret base manned by Russians get built? Holy fuck, I can push the I believe button during sci if but this season went full retard.

I may be the minority, but I thought S3 was crap overall.

I am rather disappointed by the sudden "l0ok, we have a gay character" scene and the overall cursing by a group of Jr high/High schoolers. Maybe the friends I hung out with where a bit higher on the morality scale? Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. I liked season 3. Better than season 2, but not as tight as season 1. I liked the homages to Romero's Day of the Dead, including borrowing the soundtrack for a few of the show's scenes. There was the parallel of both stories taking place underground a great deal of the time. However, Day of the Dead was so bleak, sullen, and full of existential dread, it felt like the exact opposite of season 3's lightweight song-singing forced witty-banter tone. It made me wonder if Stranger Things could get away with a more serious gut-wrenching end-of-the-world storyline, but I suppose the Duffers want to be more upbeat and crowd-pleasing than that. On the other hand, the awesome Ash vs. The Evil Dead series dealt with world destruction in a very energetic way. The close-knit adventures of the crew eventually gave way to global chaos and military battles with A-10 strikes. Now that's how to end a series!
Oh they definitely were. My friends and I in jr. high swore like sailors. We were much more Stand By Me kids and less Disney kids.

I loved it. I just hope they have part of next season in the can already, kids are growing too fast. Need a continuation of where they left off this season, then flash forward mid season to let the actors/characters ages catch up. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

+1 Why the songs covers, seems to me that at least a few didn`t sound like the original singers? Nostalgia is one thing, rip offs is a different story. too much "borrowed" stuff. You can get "inspired" to a certain point, then it`s time for yopu to bring fresh ideas. A huge MEH, IMHO. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20
