Anyone a fan of the OG tv series? My family and I visited the site in Kimgsland, GA that houses the only to scale sets in the world. A prominent voice actor and OG fan funded the building of the sets and the filming of what they consider the last two years of the five year mission. The series is available on YouTube and is called Star Trek continues.

My Dad found his career as an electronics engineer while first serving in the U.S. Army as a radar tech. on a Nike missile battery. He developed an interest in electronics that led him to use his benefits to get a degree in the field, and his career led him into the brand new field of satellite communication. Among the customers of the company he worked for was NASA, so he was directly involved with providing satellite comms to them. During one of the Skylab missions, the company tasked my Dad, as a civilian, with deploying with the USS Ticonderoga, which had been designated as the prime recovery ship, with providing comms between the Skylab crew and NASA on reentry. Understandably, Dad was swept up in the nation wide interest in science and space..and he passed that enthusiasm and pride onto our family. Dad loved Star Trek (TOS), watched episodes whenever he could, but his swing shift schedule didn't always permit him to get home in time to watch. Because he loved the show, as a kid, I did too. I'd sometimes watch it, then run out to greet him when he got home, and tried to explain what happened in that day's episode, although thinking back on it, I probably confused him more than helped him because I probably didn't understand it all that well myself at that age. Yes, there was overacting and watching them today, you'll catch the cheese of many episodes. By today's standards, the special effects aren't that impressive..but they were state-of-the-art and impressive for that time. Many of the storylines came right out of the culture and current events of that era, and were thought provoking. I caught many episodes of TNG and a few of the other spin-offs, many which were well written and some well acted. I hope that someday I can watch more of the spin-offs...but I'll always love TOS best. I'm not sure if they are still available, but at one point the Sci-Fi channel was running enhanced episodes of TOS. The basic storyline and characters were the same, but they added cool little visuals like 3D imagery of planets and ships, added additional position lights and EVA astronauts around the Enterprise, enhanced sound effects etc..that really helped to spice up TOS. If you can catch these enhanced original episode replays it's worth it.
Star Trek Continues was a fantastic project, incredibly well done and, as an extension of TOS, was a real credit. The effort they made in staying true to the original look, sound, and feel of TOS, and in following some of the original episodes has to be seen to be believed. The acting in STC was also very well done for such a low budget internet project. I was sorry to see the STC project end, but I'd strongly recommend it for any fans of TOS. Now you've got me wondering, and I'll have to double-check to see if I watched all the STC episodes.

Part of sick bay. The set has the two bed set up just like the O.G. show.

I enjoy it all. Voyager being my least favorite. Pickard has been a lot better than I anticipated. Having an admiral tell Pickard to "shut the fuck up" was worth the price of the DVD. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

Those pics are AWESOME! What a great looking family, and having fun too! I had no idea that there was a tour available for the STC sets. What months are tours available? Do you have to book them in advance? Did STC use old existing TOS sets, or did they build their own repros? A few years after TOS ended, but old episodes were still in replay, a small Star Trek contingent came to our 'local' mall, about 30-40 miles from where we lived in the sticks. A mock-up of the Transporter Pad w/ backdrop wall, and a Transporter Console, complete w/ flashing lights and sound effects, and two guys in Star Fleet uniforms (Red Shirts) to operate it. As a kid I was excited to see it and wanted to try it out, but disappointed at the same time because I could see other stores and the mall entrance not far from it, that dampened the effect. We didn't have a camera with us to capture the moment though. I just checked the STC YouTube channel, but I don't see a website listed. Do you happen to have a website or info on STC tours? There was a previous forum thread about STC several years ago that may have been pruned, but for those TOS fans who may be interested, here is the STC YouTube channel: Star Trek Continues

Here is a link to the site that runs the STC sets. You do have to book your tour in advance. https://neutralzonestudios.com/ STC built their own sets based off the blueprints/drawings/pics of the original sets. It truly was a passion project since fan fiction isn't allowed to make money.

OK, I know I'm gonna regret asking, but what does "OG" stand for?

I believe that Star Trek Continues is/was a separate entity to the Star trek OG mentioned here. Star Trek OG bought the sets originally used by STC and upgraded and rebuilt where necessary and now operate them as a non-profit organization.

OG as I intended to communicate was for “Original”.

I don't like or use the term myself, but I take "OG", as used in this thread, to reference the original Star Trek series, as this is the slang definition, at least as I understand it. https://www.dailydot.com/unclick/what-does-og-mean/ What does OG mean? According to Urban Dictionary’s most popular definition, OG is a simple abbreviation that “used to mean Original Gangster.” It has since been further co-opted to simply mean "original" or "old school". In previous forum threads on Star Trek, the abbreviation TOS has been commonly used when referring to The Original Series.

TOS is the abbreviation I am most familiar with as well. But I don’t want to sound like a grammar Nazi… if you “Identify” with OG I will respect your choices. ___________________ Company, villainous company hath been the spoil of me.

I don't have any cool photos of ST sets to share, but in keeping with the theme of this thread, here are couple shots of my TOS communicator, complete with old school communicator chirps, working buttons, flashing lights, and this deluxe model includes the non- Star Fleet regulation digital clock, calculator, and audio recorder
Let us know what you think once you've had a chance to catch a few episodes.
