I love this song so much. As a Virginian (I might not be in VA right now but it’s where my heart is) this song really hit me.

Wow!! Best song I’ve heard in YEARS!!!!!!!!

What a voice! And those lyrics…damn!

Great song. Sung from the heart.

Cue the fat-shaming accusations and subsequent canceling efforts from the commies. Being number one on iTunes means they're going to have to cancel a whole shit-load of us.

Coming from a guy that could lose a couple pounds, I didn’t take it as fat shaming as much as welfare abuse by people that won’t work, but clearly aren’t starving

Therr really is no reason excuse for someone going hungry in the USA Today, but I think ebt/food stamps should only work on essentials, lean protein, vegetables, rice, beans etc

That’s “scrip” , we still find in old houses around here
It was very common until the 50s at least
You rented a company house also, company doctor and dentist in the larger camps etc

I really enjoyed that song.

my family has lived in WV since way before there was a WV. I think my Dad still has some Script laying around someplace. I have one of my grandfathers old carbide lights and the other grandfathers coal pick. My Great Grandfather and Grandmother lived in old coal company houses with 'Outdoor Plumbing" until they died

Look up the Movie Matewan, its on youtube. Every time I see it it reminds me of the stories I heard as a kid.
