I haven't decided yet that I will be upgrading for sure, but I am sort of leaning in that direction. I actually used to know and keep up with things but I've basically been out of the loop for close to 5 years now. Pretty much stopped keeping up after I built my current computer. My current build is AMD Ryzen 9 3900x on a Asus Crosshair 8 hero MoBo with 32 gig memory and 2 2080ti in sli. All under a custom water loop. And afer I built this one, I basically told myself it would most likely bethe last one I build as the cost to performance ratio just didn't seem to be worth the effort anymore. My upgrade thoughts now tho, they mostly revolve around a custom paint case that I found but have not bought yet as my current setup won't fit in it, and a buddy of mine who is in despreate need of a upgrade. Also sort of with a new "hobby" of sorts that would greatly benefit from a more current GPU, altho the primary use will still be gaming. This is the case if anyone is curious ![]() Anyway.... my upgrade plan as of right now is to stick with AMD for the CPU with the X870 chipset, and a 5070ti for the GPU. What I am sort of stuck on tho is the motherboard mainly, mostly because I am wanting a white board with more than 2 PCIe slots and more than 4 USB ports on the back. I do find a fair amount of white boards but 2 PCIe slots seems to be more the normal thing, and the USB ports are all over the place. I did find a Asus board on Newegg that fits the bill so far but I can't find any info anywhere on it other than on Newegg or the Asus website. This Board Here It seems like a good board, but being out of the loop for so long and not being able to find any info on it, I'm really scratching my head here. I'm not tied to using Asus and I have found a couple Gigabyte boards that would probably work also. Would anyone have any insight on things?

I bought a real similar X870 board on my recent build. That should do fine. Make sure you measure the case. My case is pretty chonky and my 5080 had to slip in at a angle and I had to move a fan off the front to the bottom. Don't sure on the 5070s. The AMD X3D chips seem to be where it's at for gaming as well. I went with the 9800X3D and it's smoking fast for games. RAM's pretty cheap. I went with x2 32GB of DDR5. G-Skill I think it was. Make sure your power supply has enough output for the newer components. Train how you intend to Fight Remember - Training is not sparring. Sparring is not fighting. Fighting is not combat.

Your last build is way better than mine. I usually do a budget/midgrade build from: https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-pc-build-guide/ Their jump to High End build is usually a bit much for me. My current build will not do Win11 so I'm thinking maybe at the end of the year. Hopefully everyone else isn't doing the same thing. The link above mentions " currently in the middle of a GPU shortage and some economic difficulties that makes pricing and sourcing many PC components a tough ask."

I use https://pcpartpicker.com/. Great tool to put all your parts together in and find potential conflicts. When searching for MOBO's you can search by the # of PCIe slots in their search tool. I assume you are wanting more than 2 PCIe x16 slots? I stopped using GPU's in SLI and have never looked back. You might have other applications outside of gaming though. I just buy the best card I can. I would be hesitant to buy parts from NewEgg unless you are getting a great deal on something. IMO they are not worth the hassle if you have to return something, especially a MOBO. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

This hasn't been a thing for several years. Lack of support from developers, drivers and etc.. Once solid modern GPU will do fine. Train how you intend to Fight Remember - Training is not sparring. Sparring is not fighting. Fighting is not combat.

Thanks all. Here's what I ended up going with. Ryzen 9 9900x Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite 64 Gig Corsair Vengeance memory..... because I had 32 before with 4 sticks and only 2 sticks now would look funny... and because why not lol ![]() MSI Gaming RTX 5070 Ti 16G Ventus 3X CORSAIR Nautilus 240 RS AIO CORSAIR RM1000x Shift Power supply NZXT H5 Flow Starfield edition case Everything but the GPU is white. Pulling the drives out of my current computer because I really don't want to have to spend the next two plus weeks trying to get everything reinstalled and working right again. Altho I am upgrading my current game drive from a SSD to NVME. I am going to miss the look of my current setup with the sli and watercooled everything and all, but the new setup will have some extra ARGB that my current one does not have so.... ![]()

You'll usually see faster speeds on the RAM by using x2 slots with x32GB sticks. Just FYI. By putting x4 sticks in at x16gb a piece. You'll have the same amount of RAM but it'll run a slower speed. The memory controller has to keep up with x4 slots instead of x2. So faster speeds and tighter timings running the x2 slots vs x4 with same amount of total RAM. I think it was about a %20 - %30 drop in speed if I remember right. Something like that. Train how you intend to Fight Remember - Training is not sparring. Sparring is not fighting.
