This is really an excellent show it gets better and better every time I watch and I've watched it many times.
I like Critical Drinker never gave it a chance when it was trying to find an audience our mistake.
I'm thankful my brother gave me the DVD set for Christmas a couple of years after the show was canceled. Then a few years after that they made the movie Serenity and I found it in the bargain bin of DVD's for like $2.99. It's a great movie well worth watching. Wished I could have seen it in a movie theater

Well said.

I love Firefly / Serenity and have them on Blu-ray. I watch them often and never tire of them. I love the theme, the characters. And the stories.

I didn't watch any of the shows he considered competitors, either then or to this day. But I've watched Firefly / Serenity again and again.

I even have a quote from it in my sig line.

Firefly/Serenity was to Joss Wheedon as the Requiem was to Mozart; and to Verdi; and to Fauré….

I tried watching Firefly a few years ago. Being a 100% Star Trek fan, I just couldn't get into it for some reason. Maybe I'll try again.

I guess it's on Hulu now.

It does come off as cheap Sci-Fi Channel production at first but after the characters develop it gets quite good. Nathan Fillion plays a good captain and the others follow suit.
I say that after hearing how good Babylon 5 is but didn't get into it. I have to give that one another chance.

I enjoyed Nathan Fillion so much, I figured I'd finally check out Castle on Roku. Castle isn't bad. I enjoy it but I've got Firefly dvds waiting to be watched again too, after I finish a couple other series.

I really enjoyed Firefly/Serenity. However, I liked Farscape better.

I really liked the dialog in Firefly.

And when I started watching Deadwood, I though, "Wow, this is like a "a "world" in Firefly".

Then I saw credits roll and Zack Whedon's name, and thought "Aha, is it a relative?"

His younger brother.

I know some people are annoyed by the way the dialogue is used, the manner of dialect.

It causes me to focus on the nuance of the conversation, and I really enjoy the style, but have seen where other's abhor it.

I guess its too soon demise was better to have left one longing for more, rather than falling into the trap of running off the rails in some nonsensical seeking a new path of interest and turning to rot.

Have a good story, tell the story well.
Have an ending/goal in mind, navigate with purpose.

Entertainment is similar to dessert. I want a it to be memorable and quite different than the 3 squares every day.
I want a little over the top, decadent, indulgence and to be satisfied without doing the work.
I am not looking for "meat and potatoes". I get that everyday, that is reality.

Dessert comes to me and feeds me, I do not wish to hunt it down and work for it.

I am Seymour. Feed me...

Firefly never had a chance. I remember when it first aired and was excited to watch it, but they didn't even air the episodes in order. If I remember correctly, the time slot was shuffled around too.

As for the Critical Drinker - love the guy.

Most of the cast were recently filmed on a panel at the Emerald City Comic-Con. Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are their usual hilarious selves. Embedding is disabled by the host, though.
