Just a heads up that the nationally syndicated radio show, Coast to Coast, will interview the set director and prop maker from the original Star Wars. Show description from the website: First Half: For the original Star Wars film in 1977, Set Decorator and prop maker Roger Christian created a totally new look in sci-fi film by using found objects to give George Lucas' fantasy worlds a feeling of authenticity. Christian joins Richard Syrett (Twitter) to discuss how he dressed the Star Wars sets with airplane scrap and modified WWII guns to create menacing, realistic sci-fi weapons, and the lightsaber out of vintage camera parts. The program starts at 23:00 in my market, but you will need to check your local affiliates for the times in your area. Link to Coast to Coast show for 7-30-22 Star Wars Sets For those that miss the initial broadcast, some radio affiliates will immediately replay it, either the entire program or a portion of it. Coast doesn't replay it's ownbroadcasts, however some radio affiliates may choose to rebroadcast this program on a later date. Coast to Coast does have a subscription plan that allows members to replay any of their archived programs. ETA: listening to the program now and there are some great behind-the-scenes stories and tidbits for fans. A fair bit of gun talk early in the interview, stories about the challenges of getting Kenny Baker inside R2-D2, how he came up with the original lightsaber, budget concerns, a fantastic story about the Sand Crawler and the Algerian army etc... Turns out that this interview is part of a P.R. campaign to promote Roger Christian's new making of Star Wars documentary: Galaxy Built on Hope Currently available for pre-order from his website, and soon to be available from Amazon. This message has been edited.
