This looked interesting until:
The GIs were carrying some odd weapons, mainly the SMLE.
A German mortar crew mounted a devastating attack on the GIs, then just ignored them so the GIs could walk up on them and take them out.
The plot went from Battle of the Bulge to ensuring Adolf did not develop a Nuke.
And someone had to take a train ride ride during the Bulge to Stuttgart to end the Nuke effort.
