I was looking for a different Mencken quote and came across this quote. I’m not sure what year it is from but it struck me how much a 50+ year old quote still rings true today. “The typical American of today has lost all the love of liberty, that his forefathers had, and all their disgust of emotion, and pride in self-reliance.
