I enjoyed Andor as much as I enjoyed the original trilogy. What a fantastic surprise!!

"We got lucky making this during the gold rush a few years ago. A lot of people now have cold feet, and you can't do this show inexpensively," he said. There were no focus groups or test audiences. Now it will be good if we can stick the landing and go out strong."

Andor's $250 million budget puts it ahead of The Mandalorian's first season, which cost around $120 million, with a budget of $15 million per episode. It also overtakes the Halo TV series' $10 million per episode price tag and The Last of Us TV adaptation's budget of $10 million per episode, though it isn't quite as expensive as the reported $465 production budget of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings series.

Andor Season 2 is currently filming in London and had an August 2024 premiere window, though it's unclear how the writer's strike may affect it. Disney is remaining relatively tight-lipped about it, though we do know that its final episodes will cover the three days before Rogue One.

I think its safe to say, the marketing department has free-reign (or is separate from the director) when it comes to how to promote the show, thus we're getting contemporary music, Steve Earle's The Revolution Stats Now. Clearly this part of Disney continues to be stuck on 2017 rhetoric, language and emotion. Romanticizing revolutions is reserved for those who never have to actually do the fighting and dying. The show is about the lead-up to societal upheaval and war as a insurgency forms to overthrow the ever consolidating power of the Galactic Empire...and Disney thought this song would be appropriate.

Past shows have used music in the trailers that are unrelated to what the show/film uses. I believe the first Gladiator 2 trailer was using a hip-hop sound track for a movie set in 2nd century Rome Thankfully, despite how mediocre the movie was, that genre of music was not used in the movie itself.

If you've not watched the first season of Andor, I'd suggesting carving some time to view it. If anything, it's Star Wars for adults..no special powers or, devices. Story and dialogue drive this story, not gratuitous action and stretches in story-flow. This trailer seems to show quite a bit of action, which if it's anything close to the first season, they edited-in every piece of action to create this trailer. I'm not saying this is some super drama but, again it was the story and the dialogue that drives it...your 12-year old will hate this and scream that it's dumbest of all Star Wars.

I don't know what to expect from this continuation. s1 was an under-reported success, given that the other Star Wars Stories have been giant flops. Allegedly creator and producer Tony Gilroy was given full control...with Kathleen Kennedy around, nobody ever has full control or, free of outside influence.

Andor was the "Slow Horses" of the Star Wars franchise. This looks like the story picks up steam, which will be fine. But I loved the Revolution as imagined by George Smiley.

Watched season 2 first 3 last night.
No spoilers from me, but mixed feelings about it overall.
Some parts, particularly the wardrobe designs, were exceptionally well done.

From what I understand. Season 2 is the last.

There are 3 3 episode arcs in Season 2 that lead up to the events in Rogue One.

It’s 4 three episode arcs. Last season was 5 BBY on the timeline. With this first set of three episodes we are at 4 BBY. Next week’s drop of three episodes take place a year later at 3 BBY, then at 2 and the final three taking place with, according to Gilroy, the final scene of Andor season two is a character walking into the first scene of Rouge 1.

They released the review embargo over the weekend and it’s been fantastic reviews across the board. One writer was saying he enjoyed both seasons equally with Andy Serkis’ prison episode still being his favorite overall but mentioned not to prejudge season 2 by its first 3 episodes, as it heats up quickly just like season 1. I’m pumped.

Finally got around to starting s2.....ummm, what is this?
I'm only 2 episodes in and I'm not ready to turn it off but, there's a creeping sense of disappointment considering the high-bar s1 set for story writing, pacing and acting.

Just like last season the first three piece arc is slow. I think the arc is about showing just how much Mon gave to the cause. I enjoyed the second arc much more. More of the chess moves and espionage. I’m still in.

This series is a chess match, not a WWE or UFC/MMA match.

Like Season 1, this is a slow, methodical story told without the excessive flash and bling that the movies are known for. I have to admit I was having a hard time keeping track of everybody, but then I found a 14 minute Season 1 Recap that is REALLY useful for getting me back up to speed (like, "OH! That's where the blond girl came from!")

Granted, the show started out really stupid, with Cassian stealing an experimental TIE fighter, with no clue how to fly it. Like they would send a grunt to steal a Soviet or ChiComm jet fighter. Once I got past that, it started to really capture my interest.

Yes, there is an excessive amount of political virtue-signalling in 2-3 of the episodes (they had Space ICE raid a farm, when of course the good guys are all illegals and the leader of the ICE team was a really reprehensible perv), and I am wondering who sat down and said "You know, we need MORE sexual assault in Star Wars." But, that was over relatively quickly and I can overlook that.

I never intend to re-watch this series, so it's not like I have to keep seeing it over and over again.

In all, there is really good story-telling. The costume design and sets are AMAZZING. The actors really sell it, too, and there are quite a few really excellent characters.

Eh, it's different. If you want non-stop action, this is not for you.

The first 3 episodes were pretty heavily panned on another forum I'm on [there are others?]. But they've said it improves in ep 4-5.
I might rewatch S1 before giving S2 a shot.

I really liked Rogue One. It was a back-story that clearly connected to the original movies and it had a clear and concise objective that all fans of the originals could connect with. This series had none of that. We don't get anything new about any of the characters. We don't get some big objective that is either gained or not. It simply plodded along the inevitable run up of Imperial tyranny that we always assumed had happened before Episode 4.

It probably could have been a decent 2 hour movie about Mon Mothma.

That's been the problem with ALL of the new Star Wars stuff for the most part. The story is already known and just doing prequels is pretty weak.

That's why Episodes 8-9-10 made me so angry, in Ep 7 Return of The Jedi it ended with the Empire defeated and they all lived happily ever after.

THEN they have to go and show that 30 years later, oh no it all went to shit and all of that was for nothing.

Star Wars ends with ROTJ for me with the exception of the very well done Rogue One.
