For me Jimmy Smits seams a bit stiff as if he's trying too hard to be his character the Chief. But admittedly I've only watched the pilot thus far.

I have hopes given the NYPD Blue "roots."

I've seen several episodes thus far.
I'm finding it bland, procedural, too many cartoonish and stereotypical characters, without spark from inspired writing, and an annoying / distracting growth on Smits' top lip.

It definitely isn't another NYPD Blue.

Only saw about 15 minutes before I knew I wasn't interested, sane as NCIS Hawaii. I like Jimmy Smits but if someone want as series to fail all they have to do is cast Smits in it. It always seems like anything he's in is short lived.

Haven't watch a network show of any kind in maybe 10 years. Well I have watched some AMC and FX shows but I don't consider them network..

I watched a few minutes last night waiting for NCIS LA to come on and it didn't catch my interest. NCIS LA didn't do so good either!

Like Navy Guy, we just don’t watch network tv series much. For 5 years now, I’ve barely watched any NFL football either, but the state of Wyoming has adopted the Buffalo Bills because of Josh Allen at QB. The Bills’s game at Kansas City was a big one, and televised on CBS, so I saw a bunch of commercials, not only for East New York, but also its lead-in, The Equilizer. I always kinda liked Queen Latifa, but I recall when that show was introduced and CBS running previews for it. I thought, “That has to be one of the silliest things I’ve ever seen in my life!” Queen Latifa as a gun-toting, martial arts master crime fighter Roll Eyes

All that to say, with that show as a lead-in, I don’t think they’re after me to be a viewer of East New York.

I think network television has evolved to it's end point.

Cop shows and lawyer shows.

I have not seen the show. Just it’s adverts. But I know East NY & wouldn’t spend any interest or time on anything related to it. Curious to know if there’s any focus on the NYPD’s true concern? Catch & release..

You are correct. The broadcast networks have run out of ideas for scripted shows. They ought to go 24/7 with sports and reality shows. After all, there are professional cornhole and pickleball games to cover.

I haven't watched CBS, NBC, or ABC in a very, very, long time. We don't have these channels on our Favorites, I really can't remember when I last saw a glimpse of network TV. The last network show my wife and I watched regularly was Seinfeld, and after that, it was Fox TV with X-Files, 24, Family Guy, the first couple of seasons of Malcolm in the Middle, etc. And I can't remember the last time I watched Fox either.

We watch a lot of MeTV, GRIT to get our westerns fix nowadays.

I enjoy it for watching the street areas. I like Blood Blood better cause I was born and raised in the Upper West side and see more familiar streets and hoods. Always like watching the El trains.

I watched my 2nd episode last night and decided it's just like every cop show on tv now, with the obligatory PC and wokeness thrown in. Meh!
