Twenty years later, this beautifully created battle scene charge remains unsurpassed by anything else Hollywood attempted, imo. Link to original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pis3veqKl8k Q

Love that scene. The whole trilogy was extremely well done. Anyone who hasn't seen it should find the 9+ hours over a weekend (maybe a long weekend) to take it in. ______________________ Live free or die... Don't tread on me... Molon Labe... Take your pick.

It is good. My favorite scene in the whole series is when Eowyn fights the ringwraith. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

I recently tried rewatching LoTR and the CGI hasn't held up well in the 20 years since it was released. Still, it's a great movie series. Came here to post that. The sheer terror Miranda Otto conveys in her face is so well done - the realization that she is definitely going to die so she might as well go for it. Harshest Dream, Reality

Excellent shot from an excellent movie. Thanks for sharing. As a life-long medievalist, I cannot help but to instantly spot left-handed people in person, in movies/tv, and most especially--when handling a sword. LoTR is really bad about flipping shots. As he charges down the ranks, Theoden becomes right handed, when he is clearly left handed and carries his sword on his right hip. Aragorn often becomes left handed, etc. Nit-picky to be sure, but LoTR is particularly "bad" about doing this all the time.

To bad the army of the dead didn't get there sooner. In fact Aragorn shouldn't have let them free of their debt until they had wiped out all of the armies of Mordor. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

Agree about the scene with Miranda Otto. Loved it. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

That whole bit in the book is MUCH better. Really shows Aragorn to be their undisputed king and master - he exercises his authority as a king should. I was disappointed in that bit. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Thanks! This reminded me to order the 4K Blu-Ray version of the films. I've recently started going back to physical media for my collection. I was waiting for the release of this and then forgot about it. This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears above ground he is a protector. Plato

Great scene in a great movie. I first bought the theatrical releases on dvd, then the extended versions of them on blu-ray, which makes the movies better by including more details to the storyline. I'm tempted by the 4k releases, but can't fathom double-dipping on these movies again. I even enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy. I've never read the books. Best trilogy there is, IMO, with ROTK being the best of the three. In addition to the above scene, there are so many great others. The openings for each of the three movies totally captivated me upon first viewing.
