Yes, I know some here probably don’t think very highly of Paul Walker. That’s not what this thread is about. I genuinely would like to know what you think was Paul Walkers best film or in which films did Paul Walker deliver his best performance.

I asked my brother this question expecting to hear him replay something sarcastic but to my surprise he mentioned a film I had not seen. He almost immediately replied Running Scared was his favorite Paul Walker film.

Running Scared was a damn good flick. One of Paul's best.

I haven't seen Running Scared, but his role in Varsity Blues as a HS star QB fit him well.

Another vote for Running Scared. NOTHING at all like the Billy Crystal/Greg Hines movie of the same name.

I will always legitimately, unironically, adore The Fast and the Furious 1. As a fan of hokey '50s-'80s drive-in hot rod carsploitation movies, I thought it was an excellent '00s interpretation of those, but featuring import tuners/rice burners! It even jump-started a mini import-craze amongst the public circa the early-'00s. I think that director Rob Cohen is the only director of the entire franchise to embrace the car porn fun of it all, with close-ups of exhaust flames shooting and turbos spooling. F&F 1 is an easy film to mock and wave away, but it really is a great time capsule of that time period. It has a BT electronica score to boot!

I still remember being in the theater and seeing the first trailer for this film with all the sport compacts racing around and crashing, and my buddy whispered to me, "Why haven't they come up with a film like this already?" YES! Exactly!

Me too man. I’ll never forget going to see it with my high school friends. Our local theater actually went as far as to invite a local import car club to show off their cars in front of the theater. It was amazing.

The only thing I REALLY don’t like about The Fast and the Furious is that when it came out I was driving a MKIII Supra non turbo with a targa top and 5 speed manual. That movie made my dream car, the MKIV Supra famous, even more expensive and all but unobtainable.

Or the 1980 Ken Wahl, Judge Reinhold movie of the same name.

(or the 1972 Robert Powell movie I will admit to never having heard of until I got curious minutes ago) Wink

Cool! My uncle drove one of those. At that time, I was driving my dad's old Mk II Toyota Supra.

I don't recall Walker's 2006 Running Scared film. May have seen it back when but don't recall, so I can't honestly answer the OP's question.

As an aside Paul Walker drove a 1994 Toyota Supra in the 2001 film The Fast and the 2001 Furious 1 and the 2003 2 Fast 2 Furious.

While I'll admit F&F 1 was entertaining escapism, as an owner of a 2003 S2000 I've always thought it fueled the already crazy racer mods to the S2000. Keep in mind that during the 10 year production run, only 110,673 cars were offered worldwide with 66.5k in the US. Many were quickly totaled by novices who were inexperienced with rear wheel drive cars especially those with quirky oversteer. As an aside today's market has escalating values for used S2000, especially those in unmodified condition.

FWIW my 2003 S2000 AP1 body remains stock which is how I like it.

The S2000 in F&F 1 driven by Johnny Tran was also used in F&F 2 although repainted pink for Suki. The 1999 AP1 car sported a Veilside body kit and wing along with 18" wheels and a custom paint job. A significant departure from the stock look.

That’s Johnny Tran’s S2K. Word on the street is that he has over a hundred grand under the hood of that Honda. Big Grin I believe in reality that S2000 was basically completely stock under the hood. Big Grin

Great scene.

Without a doubt The Fast and The Furious.
I was in High School and was on a trip to Louisville Kentucky staying at the Galt House doing what High School kids do with other High School kids they just met while staying in hotels away from home.
I remember seeing the preview for the first time hanging out with a bunch of folks in someone’s room from Maumee Ohio.
Of course I had been a car guy long before High School. Saw it the night it came out.
I still highly enjoy it.
Weird what details in life you can remember that matter for nothing.

For the film, yes box stock 9k rpm engine. For promos with the film's release they added $8k worth of Comptech Supercharger. The film's dialogue comment about $100k in engine mods was pure hyperbole.

Next you'll be telling us you really can't get parts for a 10-second Supra shipped overnight from Japan.

very true,

I was in the market,

when the dealer got one in stock, they had a waiting list, and it was the dealer price (+ markup) or they moved to the next person,

the used marked was a rare very high mileage car (not riced out) or one that was riced out and usually beat,

ditto to a lesser degree the MRSpyder

ended up buying a Cooper a few years later
