HBO is replaying Deadwood right now. The series- one of the finest things ever to grace a screen, and one of the best-written TV series- is most remembered for its colorful language and savage take on life, but there are some deeply poignant moments as well.

In this clip- a favorite scene of mine- Reverend Smith is terminally ill with a brain tumor and is reaching the end of his days, and doubts the evidence of his eyes, and is consoled by his friends.

A fine bit of acting by the excellent character actor Ray McKinnon, along with Timothy Olyphant and John Hawkes.

Dangit Para! I'm not crying, you're crying!

I just started re-watching The Wire, going to have to switch to this. I try to watch both series once a year or so.

Watching decency, respect, and humility warms the heart and brings a natural smile to one’s face.
