Finally has a premiere date & first trailer. Just re-read this over the weekend, such a great book. Hit a lot harder since our boy Luke passed last year. Link to original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp2ufFO4QGg The Enemy's gate is down.

My assumption is that they shoot for a PG rating, PG13 at most. So some of the language & a couple other scenes will be cut way back/toned down. Planning on seeing this on in the theater for sure. The Enemy's gate is down.

It better have the line, "give me my thumbs, you fucking monkeys!" or I will be very disappointed. "Sometimes Magic sounds like Tape" -- The Amazing Johnathan

Lots of good 'Zo lines, really hope they get it right. I think back to the flop, IMO, that was Ender's Game, and hope against that. The Enemy's gate is down.

Staring back from the abyss |
Looks like it may be better than A Dog's Purpose, though that'd be tough to do. The Golden Retriever is a good start. I read the book a few years back and wasn't overly impressed with it, I'm hoping the film will be better. I also don't much care for Milo whateverhislastnameis. Good actor, but something about him rubs me the wrong way. Perhaps it was the way he dissed Rory. Yeah, I watched The Gilmour Girls and I'm not ashamed to admit it. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Loved the book. Surprised it took so long to get a movie made. I look forward to it. "You have the right not to be killed..." The Clash, "Know Your Rights"

Can't wait, I loved the book. I did not recognize the voice of Enzo, then the end credits said Kevin Costner. Sounds like he's been smoking a lot of cigarettes since the last time I saw or heard him in a movie.

Early non-critic reviews are pretty positive. Last I checked it had something like a 47% on RT for critic reviews. Guy I know in AZ saw it over the weekend and said it was great. The few changes needed to make it PG didn't diminish the story. The Enemy's gate is down.

Saw it Saturday night, while they had to differ a little from the book, to make it PG, I think it was a solid representation of the book. Other than they could have gotten Don Kitch to play himself I liked it quite a bit. "Sometimes Magic sounds like Tape" -- The Amazing Johnathan

Mrs Highlander and I saw it last week and thought it was great. We are both big fans of the book and really developed a greater appreciation as we lived with our aging dog. That opening scene just brought me back to those last days. Nothing like tearing up in the first 60 seconds. "You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." - Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer")

Facts are stubborn things |
Saw it yesterday with my wife. She took a fresh travel pack of Kleenex. I think she used all of them. It was really well made and a very good adaptation of the book. I highly recommend it. Made me want a Ferrari... of course, waking up in the morning makes me want a Ferrari. Do, Or do not. There is no try.

Jack of All Trades, Master of Nothing |
Saw a late show tonight. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to have that, “ONE DOG” in your life and don’t shed a tear during it, you have no soul and didn’t deserve the dog. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

Christ, this comment is choking me up. The movie would probably destroy me. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

If you love dogs go see it. It’s a great film and it reminds us to try and be the person our dogs see us as. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

never heard of the book. saw the movie. I think it was very entertaining. I like Kostner's voice. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Recondite Raider |
Saw it tonight on Amazon prime with my wife and youngest son. It did make me miss my old dog who passed a couple years ago, and reminded me of my mother-in-law losing her battle to cancer. I think this is a movie most young men should see as it has a great lesson about not giving in or giving up. __________________________ More blessed than I deserve. http://davesphotography7055.zenfolio.com/f238091154
