Been there a couple of times when I was a teen. Back then it was used in a lot of TV shows, Star Trek, Twilight Zone, etc. "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

Almost book length, but a lot of interesting things. I guess the biggest impact on me was connected to the filming of The Charge of the Light Brigade at Vasquez Rocks and the many horses killed by the use of trip wires. You always see the disclaimers now, “no animals were injured in the filming of this movie...” and it was interesting to learn where this all came from. I knew a guy near Flagstaff who owned a riding stable. He trained horses for movie stunt work and he himself performed the stunts. Teaching a horse to “fall” remains in demand—it’s just not done by tripping. _______________________________________________________ despite them

My wife is from California and lived very close to the rocks. She has been there several times. Me, never. If we both ever get back to California, I'd like to swing by and check them out. Ha! I did the same thing for the Quality Cafe back in the '00s. I kept seeing it in all these films like Seven, Training Day, Ghost World, that tepid Gone in 60 Seconds remake, etc. It's popped up in TV shows like Mad Men and CSI. I was like, "What the hell is this place?" Finally, when I went to visit my friend in L.A. back in 2005, we had to seek this place out. It was pretty cool. A year later the Quality closed and became just a film location. Sadly, it was gutted in 2014 to become the Teragram Ballroom music venue. Quality Cafe Supercut

Pretty distinctive spot, stopped by there once on the way to Palmdale/Victorville. You can draw a 100-mile radius around Glendale/Hollywood and any location of interest or, distinction, has been apart of a film or, show. The Santa Clarita-area was and has been been the most accessible setting for countless Westerns and productions looking for that feel. With it's endless housing developments, it's also a location for the classic Western-states suburbia look.
