I was watching old Law and Order episodes last night and got to thinking about Jerry Orbach (Det. Lennie Briscoe). This guy was a wonderful actor and had a long and varied career -- especially on Broadway.

This is from The Fantasticks (1962):

Met him once in an elevator in Denver. Seemed like a nice guy. Good actor.

I was surprised to find out he was the voice of Lumiere in Disney's The Beauty And The Beast.

As I recall, we lost him to prostate cancer. No matter what your doctor tells you about "no longer doing them routinely", have a PSA test done. Had I not done one 15 years ago, I would probably not be here .

Watched a episode of The Rifleman this past Sunday and a very young Jerry Orbach was in it.
Nearly every episode of the Rifleman and Gunsmoke has some actor or actress in it that went on to much larger achievements.

I met him years ago at the Crosby golf tournament. He was outgoing and signed autographs until everyone got one. He was a class act.

A really good actor. Not a bad a singer, either.

The song the OP put up was in The Fantasicks, which is the longest running musical (including off-Broadway) ever.

His Lennie Briscoe was my favorite L&O character. When he died, so did the show.

Briscoe/Logan as partners lasted only one season, but were always my favorite team.
