Rosamund Pike delivers quite a character in her role as a 'legal guardian', however early on you recognize she's a scammer, an immoral low-life looking to steal the money of seniors and shove-it into the faces of every man she comes across. She's quite good at playing decevious and deceptive characters who are too smart for their own good, this ranks right up there with her character in Gone Girl. An interesting twist is she's gay, as in lipstick lesbian gay, with a handful of sapphic scenes to emphasis this point.

Peter Dinklage plays a key character which in a plot turn, shows how much of a criminal he is, basically, game recognize game. Entertaining yet, somewhat unsatisfying; not sure what it is, there's a number of girrl power moments but, its not over-the-top, Pike's character is quite the villain and Dinklage seems underwhelming.

For me it was the ability to suspend disbelief only so far.

SPOILER ALERT (sort of)

First, anybody who has ever dealt with State Guardianship/Conservatorship knows that is is nowhere that easy to do what Pike does-its laughable in the context of this movie.

Dinklage's character is a powerful boss with the most inept crew in movie history. Their bumbling in every respect was even more laughable than Pike's scam portrayal.

I thought the movie sucked in every way from beginning to end

The ending was the best part.

I liked it.

Don't care one bit if it was realistic.

It was worth the time. I had an elderly parent and know that the movie was not that far-fetched.

I enjoyed the movie right up till the end.

Spoilers Warning:

It was so unsatisfying to not have Peter Dinklage get his revenge and to have some rando that had 10 seconds of screen time take her out. The movie did such a good job of making you HATE her character and also to show that Peter Dinklage's character absolutely loved his mother. For him to come around to just being business partners in the end just didn't cut it for me. Was a great movie till it wasn't. My wife and I were both left with pent up rage after watching it.

Also, While I don't think that its that easy to get appointed a guardianship by the court, there are are abuses of the system:
Case in Point. Too long to post here, but this stuff scares me.

Any film that can manipulate your emotions well has the potential for a good one.
True the initial premise is a bit far fetching.
This did that for me and of course the main character is hated but this was very entertaining so I guess you can say I like it.

I think that's the crux when dealing with the criminal mind. Both Dinklage and Pike's character's are criminals, their ego's won't allow them to pass up a 'big score', irregardless of whom it affects. As a rational person, you know they already have low morals and scruples, its what allows them to be the criminal opportunists that they are. If Dinklage was an unhinged absolutist, he'd have burned down her office and permanently gotten rid of her partner.

The only issues that one needs to suspend is how the courts deal with such cases, each state is different thus, lax or, indifferent court rulings is possible, however how it was portrayed left you with a sense that there was a number of holes in the procedures.
I found her escape and survival after Dinklage caught her rather implausible. Considering what she went through, the general shock her body would've experienced, not to mention the amount of time under water, I had a hard time believing her survival; nevertheless, they're trying to portray a vicious, man-hating, wench.

I enjoyed it, I wish they would have made the Dinklage crew a little more competant. And I almost would have liked it to get darker than it did.

Yes they do a good job making you hate this woman

I watched it a little while back and liked it but hoped it went in another direction. At least it was an original movie hollyweird has come up with.

That was the point. She was an overconfident apex predator that she said countless men had threatened her and none had actually ever acted upon it. She got ambushed by the most dangerous kind of predator there is. A man with nothing left to lose. She never saw it coming because she refused to recognize the danger of a nobody.
