Yes, a favorite film of mine. I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen it. I watch it every time I come across it.

Steiger's performance is rich. Poitier's as well. Good minor roles- Scott Wilson, Beah Richards, Warren Oates, Anthony James.

Stirling Silliphant's screenplay of John Ball's novel deservedly won an Oscar.

Among the actors with minor roles was William Schallert, who played the Mayor. Schallert was in almost everything and a prolific character actor.
