Barkskins chronicles "the deforestation of the New World from the arrival of English and French colonists into the contemporary era of global warming through the stories of two immigrants in New France, René Sel and Charles Duquet, who work as wood-cutters ('barkskins') and of their descendants." OK, I saw the promos on the NatGeo TV Channel and it seemed interesting from an historical perspective. Here’s my review that I posted on IMDb: It tries to be a cross between "Game of a Thrones" for intrigue, and "Outlander" for scenic setting. What it is, is a jumbled mess with hard to understand accents from actors. I watched the first episode and was confused by the storyline. I lasted only 20 minutes for the second and gave up, deleting the recorded episodes and the requirement for future recordings. --------------------- DJT-45/47 MAGA !!!!! Watched about 15 minutes of episode two last night and turned it off. Stupid soap opera with bizarre characters doing weird stuff in quasi-period gear. Yes, crap. Had I read the above sentence "...deforestation of the New World blah blah blah" first, I wouldn't have even wasted the 15 minutes. Right now I don't believe the US movie/TV industry can make a decent historical drama. Too many libtards, SJWs and millennials making scripts, directing, costuming, acting, etc, with their political agendas, lack of story telling/filming experience, lack of historical knowledge, lack of life experiences in general mucking it up. | |||

I've watched the first 3 episodes and find it pretty good. There's a lot of intrigue, a fair amount of action, a lot of characters with various motivations, competing national interests (French, English, Mohawk, Wyandote) and it's well acted. The liberal SJW "deforestation" description really seems out of place for it. __________________________ "Sooner or later, wherever people go, there's the law.
