Wife got this bike from a friend for free: https://tinyurl.com/yy2glv7r Surprisingly, it took all of 5 minutes after I took the training wheels off for my 5 year old to start riding it around all by his self, I was pretty impressed. The problem is the bottom bracket keeps getting loose. Both me and his grandpa have tried fixing it multiple times but to no avail. It's just a super crappy open ball bearing design. Even when it's fixed it still grinds and sucks. I'd just go out and buy a new one from REI or something but am exploring options to fix it. I measured the outside bottom bracket diameter at 47mm, the width at 58mm and the crank is 123mm. I can't seem to find any replacement cranksets or bottom brackets. Does anybody have any advice about if there are good replacements or if I'd be better off replacing the whole thing? Also if that's the case, any suggestions? He's got 2 little brothers hot on his heels so we tend to purchase things that will last for 3 boys. Thanks!

I would take it to a bike shop and get an estimate, but there's a good chance that the cost to repair it far exceeds the FMV of the bike. Those bikes are pretty much made to be disposable. If you live in a city w/ something like a bike coop, you'd likely be able to get it fixed cheaply there. If you're area has an active Craigslist, Nextdoor, or similar website, then there's a good chance you could find a similar bike for free to harvest for parts or as a replacement altogether. In my area, there are guys who drive through neighborhoods on weekends and pick up dozens of old bikes left curbside. Most of them try to resell them at flea markets or take them to Mexico.

What about using some Loctite Red on the threads, let it cure overnight. Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.
