If you did not go to Church Camp or don’t have kids that do/did you probably won’t enjoy it.

But this movie/musical absolutely 100% nails Church Camp on the head.

It is terribly cheesy, about 1st loves/chasing tail, being worried about revealing who you really are to everyone else, but most importantly Jesus loves You, and God has a plan for you and that plan is good no matter the trials and difficulties we may encounter along the way.

I am very very surprised that this was actually produced by Netflix and not just being streamed by them. Yes, it is terribly cheesy but that is Church Camp.
My boys love to sing to the soundtrack.

It has a fantastic mash up of Rich Mullins Awesome God and For King and Country God Only Knows.

There were 2 pretty good cameos in the movie.

Thanks for the heads up I’ll have to check it out. From middle school through my senior year I spent at a week at church camp then a week at a church youth conference. The awkward crushes and quick moving relationships was all part of the gig. Those two weeks away where always the highlights of my summer. Hanging with friends and chasing girls was a freaking blast.

That's the kid from Bunk'd. Had to watch that show last summer with my nieces and nephew. I actually enjoyed it.

That mash up is really good.

I’ll have to check it out. I see it is a Disney Channel show so I presume it is on Disney+

I think it was on Netflix when I watched it, but that did probably change because of Disney+.

Looks cute... I'll probably watch it with my wife. Church camp growing up is some of my fondest memories and I have many lifelong friends from there.

LOL, I swear I actually have been a counselor at that campground Smile Seriously, so many many memories of camp every summer and then getting to be a counselor.

I cant wait to watch it.

So, that has always been one of my biggest regrets in life.
While my first overnight camp was summer between 2nd and 3rd grade and I went to at least one every year as a camper until college. I never was a camp counselor.

It’s funny how most church camps are very similar I went to Scioto Hills Christian Camp in Wheelersburg, Ohio and it had all the same stuff as in the movie.
Though in the movie I thought it was weird that all the dudes had their shirts on when doing stuff in the lake.

The Blob, man what a blast that thing was! Though the blob scene in the movie was so weak. Fella on the end was probably 6 or more feet back from the edge and just had a single skinny fella bounce him off he Barely got any lift at all.

We would scoot almost out to the edge and have 2 people bounce you off. Tried 3 people a few times but it was hard to get everyone to land at the same time.

Watched it tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely captured the vibe and I loved the songs, which I grew up with. It was also uplifting and Biblically sound even though it wasn't preachy and I'm not even sure it said the name Jesus once. The references to other movies was clever also.

I went to camp in Forsyth, GA at the Assemblies of God camp every year, sometimes as much as 3 weeks a year, from 9-19 yo. My Dad was a preacher so I also went to a bunch of camps that he preached. Never had a blob but Camp Awanita in NC had a big zip line high over the lake.

Jesus was mentioned one time that I was able to notice but it was sort of in the background.
Don’t remember exactly but it was either after the camp fire when they did all the team cheers or it was as they were prepping for paintball but it was at a spot where everyone was all amped up for their team and everyone was running off to do something. Kristen (the black lady) yells “Jesus Loves You.”
I think the movie was very well done considering today’s society. Sure, the messages of forgiveness, redemption, and that God loves everyone no matter their past are delivered thematically, Avery’s campfire message and Awesome God rendition lay out a very important and specific message as well.

Did you catch the cameos? I caught two of them.

Yeah the campfire scene was great and I liked the Jeremiah 29:11 recitation. Definitely noticed Amy Grant but only later realized who the lifeguard was.
