Another good actor who left his mark on the world with movies. We see his passing as a loss to society. I'm certain his family feels the pain of loss personally. I hope that they can keep good memories of him at this time. --Tom The right of self preservation, in turn, was understood as the right to defend oneself against attacks by lawless individuals, or, if absolutely necessary, to resist and throw off a tyrannical government.

RIP James Caan. He had some great roles over the years, I always liked him, he was a bad-ass. Some of my favorite movies he played in were The Godfather The Godfather Part II Freebie and the Bean Rollerball A Bridge Too Far Thief Alien Nation Eraser Way of the Gun "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock "If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." He was a great one for sure and I enjoyed his acting in everything he did, particularly, of course, The Godfather. He was also excellent in Brian’s Song. RIP. Edited: Forgot that he was in Gardens of Stone, which I really liked.

Very sad! Liked his work too and used to see him around quite often in the area where I worked as a LEO. In life, he seemed like a very nice guy. Quite subdued and pleasant to deal with. "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

A great actor that will be sorely missed. I was just watching The Program the other day. One of my all time favorite movies, (even though it tanked at the box office) is the Gardens of Stone. James Caan plays a tough/unrefined PLT SGT. It featured a lot of great names: James Earl Jones Anjelica Huston D. B. Sweeney Laurence Fishburne Mary Stuart Masterson He had an interesting life before and after becoming an actor, with quite a few up and down periods. He was a practicing martial artist, where he focused on Takayuki Kubota for nearly 30 years. He was a Master (6 Dan) of Gosoku Ryu Karate and was granted the title of Soke Dai by the International Karate Association. He also took part in steer roping at rodeos and referred to himself as the "only Jewish cowboy from New York on the professional rodeo cowboy circuit. So he was able to bring a lot of real life experience and training to his roles/characters.

Just saw this too. RIP Jimmy. Great career. "Bada Bing" “Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present Generation to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make good use of it. Damn. RIP. Loved your work. My favorite film of his is the Yards. It was like watching an actor who had just mastered it all. Last truly great film I saw him in. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
