They mention it in the movie. Balto led the last 31 miles. Still worthy of praise but togo did 200+ with a good chunk across the sea ice!!! wich is alot tougher. Loved the movie. Got quite choked up over it as well ! | |||

Balto got the attention since he's was the lead dog when they arrive into Nome. Seppula/Togo covered the longest leg. The Alaskan serum run was a tag-team/relay effort with a number of dog teams. Balto got the accolades as he was the lead dog entering Nome. The attention and celebrity status that the press generated angered a lot of the mushers and created some jealousy. Its another story, in a long chapter of the press creating a narrative, mudding the actual story and the public running with it. | |||
