I’m not much of a race fan, but DAYUMMM that was entertaining to watch!

I would like to have seen a shot of the right side of the car afterwards

I saw a few & aesthetically it wasn't too bad, not sure about mechanically. Looked like he rode the wall through the opposite end as well. I'm sure it threw the alignment way out.

Thanks for the explanations.

I've played NASCAR HEAT 4 on Playstation, and that track is tricky. It's so short and the turns so tight, one must slow down significantly through the turns or one will end up in the wall. I learned I could go faster by rebounding off the walls or other cars to keep myself from slowing down.

So, it wasn't that Chastain speeded up to pass those cars while hitting the wall - he just didn't decelerate as much as everybody else.

I really don't like Chastain (he wrecks out my favorite drivers too often), but that was a VERY gutsy move. He had mothing to lose by trying, as had he not done so, he would have lost his chance to win the championship. Now, he is one of four finalists for the final championship race this coming Sunday.

I think he said he put in 5th gear and pinned the accelerator, he was definitely going for broke.

They'll be back to the 4-speed trans in time for pre-race inspection at Phoenix.

Cars are a 5spd sequential transaxle now.
One of the divisive changes introduced this year, along with the centerlock aluminum wheels & independent suspension.

My bad, thanks. I used to be pinned to the TV on Raceday, not anymore.

I've caught bits & pieces here & there of a few races.
F1 primarily & MotoGP #2, are my jam, so some Nascar & Indycar news hits my feed sometimes.

Yeah, that was CRAZY! Eek First time I saw that, I thought they sped up the video...Takes 'Rubbing is Racing' to a whole 'nother level! Apparently the 'Video Game Generation' is now in the driver's seat(s) of actual racecars!

My favorite exchange from the video...

John Klausmeier (Crew Chief): White's out, Ridin' the wall, Oh my Gosh, Comin' to the checkered flag, I can't believe what I just saw
Chase Briscoe (Driver): That's literally the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. That was straight video game, but
John Klausmeier (Crew Chief): Hey man, Way to never quit, That's all we can ask for, You drove your ass off
Chase Briscoe (Driver): Sorry Guys, If I'd have known that would work, I'd of just done that the last eight laps

There've been some great ones, but a few snoozers in F1 this season [coughMexicocough].

I don't think I could name 5 Nascar or Indy drivers nor teams, but could rattle off the full F1 grid, teams, nationalities, etc, and probably most of the MotoGP grid.

And, even with new rules, he will hold the single lap record at Martinsville for all time.
