The wife and I are going to Copenhagen this summer to see an Iron Maiden concert with some friends. Killswitch Engage is playing with them. I don't have much time in listening to them. I thought I would familiarize myself today. I put on A shuffle today and the first song was Holy Diver, some covered songs are good, some are not, I really liked thier version. I will listen to more.

They're a decent band, not really my style, but aren't "terrible", too "Heavy, then the gay chorus" for me. However, there are far worse bands you could sit through.

I like some of their stuff. Mostly in their mid-career (2002-2011), when Howard Jones was the lead singer.
They've had two lead singers. Started with Jesse Leach for the first couple albums, then switched to Howard Jones for the next several albums, and recently switched back to Jesse Leach.
OK, I guess, if you like metalcore music, with its over-wrought, exaggerated, growled vocals. It isn't really my "bag." I only liked one song, which is more of a ballad and is atypical, on the CD I purchased a few years ago.
The End of Heartache & The Arms of Sorrow are good ones, similar to their version of Holy Diver. The Killswitch songs I like, I really like, the rest are meh at best. I agree with what Rogue said. Leach's "power scream" comes off whiny, but my opinion of metalcore is pretty low.

That about sums them and most of metalcore up. I listen to them and their ilk from time to time, first through Spotify and now in my library with Amazon Prime Unlimited. Hell, it saves me from having to buy any of their material. After a while, it all sounds the same: thrashy guitars and torn vocal cords poorly disguising whiny, precocious psuedo-kiddie angst.
I like My Last Serenade, My Curse, The End of Heartache, and Holy Diver. And that's about it. Metalcore just isn't my thing. I prefer Symphonic/Power for "over-wrought" metal. That's just me, though.
