His feud with Taylor Sheridan was ridiculous. Both sound like real egotistical actors. He is ok but not in the same league as Eastwood.

I don’t watch Yellowstone and didn’t know there was an issue with Sheridan.

I don’t think anyone responding has attempted to compare Costner to Eastwood, I know I haven’t, I just said I like (a lot of) his movies.

I like Kevin Costner, but can't watch Bull Durham because it has Susan Sarandon. She makes any movie she's in unwatchable.

Field of Dreams is my favorite, with Open Range being a close second.

Years ago, before the Field of Dreams site got turned into a tourist attraction, I was camping with my kids near Galena, IL. We drove across the river into Iowa and, after asking around, got directions to the field.

At that time, half the outfield had been plowed over and replanted with corn. But, the infield and part of the outfield were still there. I played catch with my boys there and had tears in my eyes.

Toward what end?

Leadership and training. The course used to require a homework assignment highlighting leadership principles from the movie.

Second the motion on No Way Out. I did enjoy his performance in Hidden Figures.

And I gotta say, Sean Young did a pretty good job in that too!

For as much as I like him as an actor, there are a LOT of good movies he's in I haven't seen.

I just happened to notice that one on Apple TV+ today, and remembering your comment and having a couple hours to kill, I decided to check it out.

I'm not a big football fan, or especially NFL. But despite that, I enjoyed Draft Day. Good acting all around from Costner and some others, with several especially excellent scenes with tight and snappy dialogue.

So I agree that it's worth checking out, especially if you like football/NFL, but even if you don't. (It's not so much about the game itself, more the business dealings behind it. Similar to something like Moneyball.)

I recall reading that he was offered the starring role in Platoon from Oliver Stone and turned in down because he thought it depicted the american solider in a bad light.

If that is true, that moves him into classic status in my book.

I do love Open Range and watch it every time it is shown on TV.

Though he wasn't the lead, and it was a long time ago, Silverado is one of my favorites. Scott Glenn played a great role.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

I have watched No Way Out several times and still enjoy it despite knowing the twist at the end. It is too bad about Sean Young. Her personal problems overwhelmed what could have been a long productive career in acting.

Read a blurb on google that the movie A Perfect World directed by Clint Eastwood with a part also and starring Kevin Costner had a big fued between them over styles of making movies. Clint was his usual style of no retakes and Kevin wanted to analyse every take and redo multiple times. He threatened to walk and Clint wanted someone else. The blurb said Clint won. Sounds similar to the issues between Taylor Sheridan and Kevin in Yellowstone. But Hollywood reporting.

My wife and I took our daughters to a cruise out of Miami last March and I took the opportunity to hit some Miami Vice spots and we stayed in the Fontainebleau where they filmed the hotel scene in The Bodyguard. It is definitely a super high end hotel.
I really like Costner movies as well. I’ve even fallen prey to Yellowstone.

I don’t know, is that like saying “I like dance music?” He’s made quite a few that I’ll watch more than once. I think he’s really adept at sports movies: Field of Dreams, Tin Cup, For Love of the Game (underrated, I think), Draft Day, a great sports movie, IMO. The Westerns: Silverado, Dances with Wolves, Open Range, and Wyatt Earp (not a favorite of mine in comparison to Tombstone). Today we’re watching The Guardian, Costner plays a USCG SCPO Rescue Swimmer. I think a really good movie.

A Perfect World is a great movie. Watch it if you haven’t.

The Untouchables!

Guilty pleasure, I like The Bodyguard.

I know my taste in movies runs toward the more pedestrian, but he can be really good, and his movies usually entertain me.

ETA: 12131, yeah, they aren’t all gems. You can list the bad ones if you like.
