That is still one of my favorite western movies. I wish that I could see it now just for the first time again. Definitely left a long lasting impression that I still can't pass up on now and again if it's showing. Jeez, I'd have to guess I've seen it at least a half dozen times now. I have been to Tombstone. And the Cochise Co. Courthouse. Great place to visit and Earps residence was still standing when I was there. I have read everything I can get my hands on about the Earps and Tombstone. A visit there was a must for me. And Kilmers portrayal of Doc was excellent. But Quaids eerie resemblance to the real Doc is my favorite. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles | |||

Probably one of my all time favorites. I had the opportunity to visit Tombstone a few years ago. Stayed there over 12 hours just walking and looking at everything. It was awesome. | |||

My wife and I went out west on vacation a while back. We eventually got to Jackson Hole Wy. We went horseback riding there and the trail guide said that the paint horse my wife was riding was in the opening scene of Tombstone when the outlaws came riding into town. They told us that they leased those horses from a guy in Arizona when it got too hot in the summers in Arizona NRA Life Endowment member Tri-State Gun collectors Life Member | |||

Tommy Lee Jones was the winner for The Fugitive that year. There were even some very good nominations for Supporting Actor. But none of them gave a career performance like Val Kilmer did in Tombstone. He lost more than 40 pounds to play the gunslinger. He studied his mannerisms, his movements and his speech. Kilmer embodied the very spirit of Doc Holliday. Kurt Russell was so impressed with Kilmer’s interpretation of Holliday that he bought him a small piece of land in Arizona after filming was done. Tombstone wasn’t very well reviewed by the critics in 1993 but it was a very big success at the box office and even bigger on home video. Val Kilmer was often spoken about as one of the bright spots in Tombstone. As mentioned, Jones won for supporting actor that year. But Kilmer should have at least been nominated and if he had won, no one would have questioned it. He was simply outstanding. “I’m your Huckleberry.”

LOL. Agreed. I love Kilmer's performance (my dog is named Doc) but his accent was pretty over the top. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log. | |||

Oh , I see, I misunderstood, I thought that he somehow studied the real Doc H., What he "studied" were people who thought they knew someone who may or may not have had something remotely close to one of nine dialects that may or may not have been similar to what was in the movie.
