Anybody else watch the first episode this week?
To me started well, with a lot of interesting twists started. Has the Sons of Anarchy gore!
Gemma was in the first episode, though a flash back.

Like SOA, another violence porn soap opera.
I'll give it a while just because I soldiered through SOA to the end. It's not like I could actually relate to a white guy MC, an Hispanic one is just that much less of interest. The opening music with crap about "cutting your grass" or whatever was wtf?

There was a great bit with this show, a promo I think, a Mayan-based graphic with motorcycle parts, very nice. All I can find is this very poor pic of it --

Yeah, I watched it, then I went back and re-watched parts of the last 30 minutes to try and better understand a few things. Like the deal EZ made with the cops, what the Samoan was saying when he broke, and what was going on in the "rebel" encampment. Still not sure I do. I'll stay with it awhile longer--at least.

Yep. I watched it. Kind of plot heavy right out of the chute. Had to laugh a little when the San Bernadino Reaper cavalry came to save the day.

Motorcycle Gangs....I have to like characters or at least have a little empathy or relate on some level.

Zero fucks given for these guys. Like SOA I just can't get into it.

After slogging through the last season or two of SOA, I'm not sure about starting this one.

Little disapointed Sutter couldnt go more than 38 minutes without giving his wife a gratuitous pointless cameo. Evil T1000 is looking like crap these dsys.

Otherwise i was entertained enough to give it a chance.

Wife and I were laughing at the small family reunion ALA The Unit. Wonder if Dennis Haysbert and the rest of the crew will make appearances?

Interestingly, I think it's just a rehash of the same characters from SOA. If you look at the cast, they even resemble the originals, albeit, with a different skin tone Wink

I'll stick with it for the time being. Hell, can't be any worse than the other shit that's on television right now.

The SOA story was squarely based on the tragedy "Hamlet." Any hints that this series is based on anything by Shakespeare or anything else?

Nope. So far it seems to be based on nothing more than Sutter's inborn love of clusterfucks and tragedy.

I only recognized the one guy from the unit. Oh, wait, I remember the guy leading the SOA cavalry help in the cemetery. I’m watching it because I have nothing else.

Seems like they are trying to write a story similar to SOA but the overall character development just is not there. All focus is on one guy, a prospect that acts like he is running things.

Eh... Im out.

Spoiler:

His lost love just happens to be the cartel guys wife?

Massive shoot out in the middle of the day, and nobody seems to care. No cops.

Totally useless Gemma cameo

Kid killed a cop, and was released after a couple of years and nobody suspects he is working with the cops?

Seems like a rehash of SOA, could be mildly interesting, but I'm not in the mood to watch that again

I watched both episodes yesterday.

Meh.

I think the casting and acting was the weakest point, followed by it feeling like a clumsy mash-up between a Telenovella and the original SoA. I had expected more from Sutter.

The actor playing the Cartel guy isn't particularly convincing, nor is about half of the Latino actors. Edward James Almos is an excellent actor, and the actor who played Marcus in SoA plays a convincing part, but the rest is, well, meh.

The season finale was on last night. Wrapped up with a couple cliffhanger like situations.

Overall it was pretty entertaining. Yeah I get it that it's just a bunch of dirtbag criminals doing their dirt. Still, I like the bikes and a couple of the characters were interesting. I think Chuckie is funny as hell. I think I actually like it better than SOA.

I remember being in Sturgis seeing the airplanes were flying over with banners advertising Sons of Anarchy. Wondering what the hell that was. That was prior to the first show of the first season

I kind of got the feeling that there was not much love lost between Coco and his mom anyway. It'll be interesting to see how the relationship between EZ and Angel shakes out.

Seems like a PC rehash of SOA with some new color to keep the folks happy. I honestly would've rather seen the Thomas & Able spin off they were hinting at after the original wrapped.

Not great, but I'm still watching it as there is just nothing better on right now.

A Perpetual Disappointment...
