I just watched the Richard Linklater film on Netflix: Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood. It's s pretty cool flashback piece. It starts as a weird fantastical spoof of a young boy recruited into the Apollo space program, but then the film settles into its main groove of being a peek into Houston suburban family life of 1969. If you know Linklater's stuff, it's another verbose, slow, slice-of-life story just dripping with nostalgia and minute period details. This one is rendered in rotoscope animation like his Waking Life and Scanner Darkly flicks. I figured a lot of you guys around here might appreciate looking back at '60s Americana. | ||
