Really enjoyed this one. It was much deeper than the little clip it you are shown on Netflix leads one to believe. I think I would have enjoyed growing up in the 50s and 60s also think I would like to live in a swampy intercostal are for awhile.
I certainly thought it was worth the 2 hours of our time.
The trailer gives a bit better idea

I enjoyed this movie very much.
I had a Tom Sawyer childhood growing up on a river in the woods.

It was good
The wife and daughter recommended it, I was thinking it was going to be a sappy love story. Wrong!

Same. Think I rented it on disc a year ago. Was one of the better films (not saying much) in 2023.

Good movie, I dare say it's underrated as it has gotten a number of accolades when it first came out. It's a worthwhile watch if you're interested in a well developed drama with a touch of southern gothic.

I was at my son's place and his wife had just finished the book. She offered it to me and I read it over a weekend. Good story and as usual had a lot more detail than the movie. So it seemed like the movie skipped some stuff. Still a good watch and I enjoyed that as well.
