Me too. Hope they don't fall into the the 'girl power' trap that's shitcanned Disney's latest offerings.

Yes, I'm hoping that this may have escaped that trap...
From the trailer, it also looks like there are some back stories/flashbacks - like John Goodman's character in Kong Skull Island, scenes from when he was young.

Has anyone else noticed that Kurt Russell does not seem to be aging? Don't get me wrong, big fan, but still...

I'm absolutely going to check this out. My sons and I are HUGE (think Godzilla on top of Gamera I know not in the franchise but still, he's the friend of all children and I have two of them) on top of King Kong on top of . . . you get the picture) fans of the new movies.

I hope they drop all at once, but if not I'll wait and watch when they are all out, and stealthily watch the reviews.

It's AppleTV+ so it'll be released weekly.

I cant wait to watch it. The whole Monarch angle gives me a Dharma from Lost vibe. So I am excited to see this explored more.

First two episodes were released yesterday. I watched the first one and it's all very mysterious. It doesn't seem to be about the formation of Monarch, as even the characters in the past timeline are already working for Monarch.

I’m nearing the end of the first episode. This is interesting, despite how bad the writing and attention to detail is.

Gave it 15 minutes before I shut it off. Like Veeper said, really bad writing.

I started the first episode and fell asleep. Not because it was bad, I cant remember what it was like because I was tired and fell asleep.

But is there some significance to the name 'Monarch?'

I was never a Godzilla watcher

Monarch is the secret organization in the US (Legendary) Godzilla movies that tracks and monitors kaijus (Kong, Godzilla, etc). It is the equivalent of 'Sector Seven' in the Transformers movies. Monarch is ONLY seen in the American Godzilla movies made since 2014. It is not in the Japanese Movies (Shin Godzilla and (I assume) the new one coming this December).

This series seems to be set between the 1st and 2nd Legendary movies when the 'Godzilla thing' was relatively new (they mentioned the San Francisco Godzilla attack, but not Boston (2nd movie) or Hong Kong (3rd movie) ). Monarch is still sufficiently shady and unknown that it has a great air of mystery. By the 2nd movie, Monarch was more out in the open.

I watched the first episode today and enjoyed it. I thought the 'Godzilla Drill' in Tokyo was sort of stupid - they basically staged a no-notice "Godzilla is coming" alert causing people to flood into the subway shelters, only to be told it was just a drill. I would expect such a drill to cause thousands of deaths and mass panic (even in a stoic and relatively composed country like Japan). It's like calling 'fire' in a crowded movie theater. . .

I only saw the one episode, so it's too early to really figure out what is going on. I am waiting on my nephew so we can watch the 2nd episode together.

I feel like I may not have done a very good job explaining my distain and the reasons for it. It hurts my brain to watch something big budget, that seems like it could be very interesting, be completely torpedoed by obvious shit-for-brains writers with an obvious agenda that's tainting their product.

It's not that they make men look like clowns or do stupid things, it's that the writers write stupid things, but then go out of their way to write the men as how they imagine men to be in their tiny little agenda shit-nugget brains.

An example of the shit writing:

- The threesome bombs or does something to upset the tectonic plates and a large silo or building forms all kinds of cracks and is completely unstable. Instead of writing this as something on the outskirts of the area they're investigating, they make a point of having this science team enter a structure that's completely collapsing. What the shit? Why not write them entering a spooky soviet-era science building and then discovering the eggs in the basement? Why do you have to overdo it with all the cracks and ground giving way, and then expect me to believe these three idiots would just stroll around inside?

When am I suppose to believe that there's danger? We've already established that the characters don't give a shit.

- The opening scene shows us those same three scientists in a vehicle and the white male grown man driver can't operate the manual shift. Why? Why would you even write that into the story? Why does it matter that you make a male character shitty at driving?

- The asian female scientist continually talks over the men and is ALWAYS correct.

- Later in the show the snarky shitty daughter scientist girl goes to her dad's old apartment and then tricks the occupants by speaking only English when she knows Japanese. She completely emasculates the dude that's her step-brother, apparently, by pulling the safe combo out of thin air because he's an idiot and never tried the obvious combination that, of course, she gets on the first try.

- The above happens AFTER shitty arrogant girl rips a map/research-poster off the wall because there's a safe behind it. She doesn't take pictures of it, she doesn't study it, no - she's so smart that she probably already has it memorized and just tears it down.

- Why make them run into a Godzilla shelter that's only like 1 flight of stairs down, and is clearly just a subway station? How is that even safer? Why would the show writers put in a false-alarm? Do they even know what the fuck would happen if two million people dropped everything and ran for 1-flight-down monster shelters? "Haha Just kidding fam! All crear!" Damn, the traffic jams alone would last for hours.

God this show doesn't piss me off as badly as other shows but it sure is trying.

I'm sick and tired of attempting to ingest dog shit programs written by dog shit agenda-driven idiots that think they're too smart for the general populace. Hell, my wife and I watched "Lessons in Chemistry" because she liked the book, and I'll be damned if every single stupid-ass girl-power shit they stuffed into the program wasn't that much of a feature in the book (according to my wife).

It's like they go out of their way to make sure that something with potential is totally mediocre because of their shitty writing and stupid agendas.

Man oh man did this show turn shitty(er). Wasn't amazing to begin with but damn do I not give a shit about 80% of the last episodes. Found my self fast forwarding past all the poorly written stupid character drama and just pressing play when I saw an explosion.

Yeah, I watched maybe 50% of the 4th episode. Bland action with a LOT of boring character development (of characters I really don't care about). You could skip that entire episode and really not miss anything, IMO.

Welp, I'm out. Fast forwarded through all of this weeks episode, not a single monster in the monster show. Just more C grade soap opera.
