Licking an oak tree is a lot less expensive.

You boys from the left coast certainly know how to call a spade a spade. PVW23 is more like licking a 2x4 - ORVW25 might be "really old wood" like? But someone's gonna' have to try some first to confirm . . . Roll Eyes

YMMV,

Some friends though about splitting a bottle so we could all try it but the retail is too much. We could buy a bottle we know is great or take a chance on something that's probably meh.

Agreed. Think I'll just get some more 2016 WLW & THH and wait for the reviews of the ORVW25 to come pouring in! Hey, it's my birthday today and I can do whatever my wife says I can do, right???? Big Grin

Anybody had the corzano tequila finished in the stagg, orvw, or saz18 barrels? I see buffalo trace is available but they stopped delivering to KS 2+ years ago. Love to know the taste profile but maybe i need to try the requila thread.

I hadn't heard about those.

Hmm. I'm way too snobby to fuck around with whiskey finished in other barrels, but the tequila ones actually sound interesting, especially Tequila + Stagg. Weird, but cool.

Why not just pour some teqiulla in your bourbon? Just like instead of ponying up the extra cash for Woodford Double Oaked, I just put some oak staves in my regular Woodford. Saves time (vs. 1 year in barrel) AND money. Genius!

Seriously I did try some Port finish bourbon that might as well have been port poured in the glass with the bourbon, way too porty.

46n2 the guy at the liquor store said it gives it a lot of bourbon impressions. They have a buffalo trace corazon at hitimes but its 60 bucks!

Im not sure i want to replicate double oak reck, it was in bourbon slush territory. *shudders*

I don't drink tequila. The tequila in sought after bourbon barrel thing has always seemed like a total marketing gimmick. If it's good or interesting a barrel of Elijah Craig would do the same thing. But putting Van Winkle on the label allows a much bigger upcharge.

Heres a review. I find this reviewer very generous in his grades so I disregard everything but the notes.

Excellent point berto! I know they age tequila in some bourbon casks so your point is dead on. Its the first time theyve labeled with which barrel. Or made a big stink anyway. PASS.

My local Total Wine has OGD 114 at $18.99.

Sounds like this might be a deal.

I think so...

I've happily paid $28 on a number of occasions.
