No good deed goes unpunished |
Seventy-six years ago today Major Glen Miller's plane went down over the English Channel. I've loved his music for as long as I can remember. If you ever get the chance to catch the Glen Miller Orchestra on tour, do so. They are fantastic. This is Miller's last radio broadcast on September 24, 1942, before he joined the Army. That music still makes me tear up. Grew up listening to it with my parents!

I played in a swing band for a number of years. We loved his charts. I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown ................................... When you have no future, you live in the past. " Sycamore Row" by John Grisham

I grew up running around and flying off an airfield that played Swing music and commercials from that era. I also helped with a benefit fund-raising effort for a cancer patient in which we held a USO themed event. We pushed the old WW II airplanes out of the hangar, set up auction tables and refreshments, brought in a Swing Big Band with a huge hangar floor for couples to dance on, and had a wonderful event. In addition to the classics, there are new modern takes on Swing that I really appreciate. I'm a big fan of Brian Setzer, both his Rockabilly and his modern Swing band revival music. Glenn Miller's music has been a big part of my upbringing and life and still stop and reminisce when I hear it. I have a couple CD's of his music and pop them in to listen to from time to time.

Also a part of my upbringing. Always enjoy Glen Miller. My dad used to put on his records on Sunday afternoons and listen. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

One of my absolute favorite Glen Miller tunes that has just stuck with my all these years. As a kid in the 50's my folks played this song numerous times as well as other families in the neighborhood.. Regards, Will G.
