I'm surprised no one has posted about his passing yet at 66 y/o. Hagler was one of boxing's all-time greats in any division. Floyd Mayweather couldn't hold a candle to him. Hagler & Tommy Hearns were immortalized in the most exciting round of boxing ever caught on film.

RIP champ. Hagler is my favorite fighter. He was a bad dude in the ring. The Hearns fight is 8 of the greatest minutes of boxing ever.

Bummer, RIP Marvin. He was a great one, in his prime he was one bad-ass dude. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock "If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." Clarence Worley

When he fought, the welterweight to middleweight divisions were loaded with great fighters. To gain and hold a title was a great feat because so many boxers possessed the skills to challenge for it. In addition to Marvin Hagler and Tommy Hearns, already mentioned, there was Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, and my favorite, the counter-puncher Wilfredo Benitez. Boxing has never been this good again. _______________________________________________________ despite them

They don't build Boxers like those guys anymore. Arguably the greatest era of fighters in the middle/welter weight divisions. And for the record - Hagler got shafted by the judges in the Sugar Ray Leonard decision.

From the golden age of boxing. Marvin Hagler, Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Alexis Arguello. No longer follow boxing. I do not even know who the champ is in any weight classification today. This message has been edited. Last edited by: B Ware, Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints

The sad thing is I don't either (follow boxing) anymore. I used to be a die-hard boxing fanatic and that era with Hearns, Hagler and Leonard was something special. Too bad for Hagler RIP, he was amazing. I don't know what has caused so many sports to deteriorate but that subject is for another day. RIP Marvelous one.

Damn, I just saw this. I enjoyed the heyday of boxing back in the 80's. I agree it's just never been the same. Those guys were some great athletes!

Remember when he legally had his name changed to Marvelous when they failed to introduce him with that moniker.

In the Hearns fight he was cut and ref Richard Steele was concerned. "Marvin, can you see?" Hagler calmly says, "Why, I ain't missing him am I?" Harshest Dream, Reality

I can still remember the hype before his fight with John 'the beast' Mugabi. Hagler trained like an absolute animal...guy was always better conditioned than his opponent.

I was a fan of Ray Leonard so I was rooting for him vs. Hagler. I don't know how an objective viewing of that fight would conclude that Leonard won. Year V

Hagler was something else. Too young. RIP The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Hagler was so bad-ass hair would not grow on his head. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead."
