I don't listen to country much. But I was searching for some songs and stumbled upon Lynn Anderson. She sang a lot of familiar songs (as covers?) and I liked her style. Never heard of her before but may buy one of her Best Of cd's. Aside - while listening to other song recommendations based on liking Anderson, came across Harper Valley PTA. Funny song. Had a big hit with (I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden. Died about 5 years ago I think. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

I’ve heard the song Rose Garden before but hadn’t heard of her until a few days ago. She would have been a favorite for me back then as well. I can’t get HV PTA out of my head now… "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." The Harper Valley song used for the movie was sung by Jeannie C. Riley.

The song came first and inspired the movie...1978. _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag! The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. - Margaret Thatcher Spread my work ethic, not my wealth

yes, and what I said is correct also. Jeannie C. Riley's version was the biggest seller and the one that most anyone from that era would remember.
