I've noticed that they've been playing these standalone/one-off Star Wars movies like Solo and Rogue One on TV this past week and I have to say I really enjoyed them unlike the 3 sequels: The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker which I consider absolute garbage and movies that should have never been made. IMO those have nearly ruined the Star Wars franchise.

Anyone else feel this way? The Mandalorian is pretty damn good too!

I was pleasantly surprised by Solo, and I think most people I've spoken to about it were as well. Rogue one and Mandalorian are both big hits.

If you don't mind more cartoony graphics, and want more Star Wars, you should consider watching Clone Wars and Rebels. Both have a few "kid" episodes that you can skip through, but are overall very serious shows with very good plotlines. Clone Wars has many characters that show up in the Mandalorian, and several of them are getting their own show as well.

The guys that made Clone Wars/Bad Batch and Rebels are so popular and did so well with those series, they are now basically "in charge" of all things Star Wars at Disney, and are making Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, and hopefully many many more.

Rogue One was undoubtedly one of the best SW movies ever. It did the original three justice, IMHO.

Rogue One and The Mandalorian are some of the best of the entire franchise, from any period.

Solo was a very fun movie. Unfortunately, it was released only 4 months after The Last Jedi and people vented their rage by avoiding it in the theater. Since ticket sales were less than expected, the critics said it was a flop and the general public believed them.

I liked Rogue One as it told the untold story prior to A New Hope. Solo wasn't bad and the Mandalorian really came into it's own in the second season.

Solo intentionally messed up how Han and Chewie met in order to say that "there is no such thing as old cannon"

Rogue One was worthy of the original trilogy, none of the other movies have been. The Mandalorian made Star Wars fun again.

I really liked Rogue One and the Mandalorian. Solo was better than the Disney trash trilogy but it was completely unnecessary.

Yeah, The Mandalorian is the greatest expression of Star Wars, even exceeding the original trilogy, IMO.

I didn't like Solo. As you indicated, it was entirely unnecessary. Nothing in that movie needed to be told (ESPECIALLY how he got his last name). I found it boring and plodding, and HATED the 'origin story' of Han and Chewie's relationship. It just sucked.

I am very much looking forward to Mandalorian Season 3.

I completely agree.

Solo's one redeeming quality is that it briefly featured Imperial Army infantry, something that had previously been included in Extended Universe material but was never really showcased in the films or TV shows. That was kinda nifty.

(Yes, there's more to Imperial infantry than Stormtroopers and their various sub-specialties...)

They did it to be more PC... cant have Chewie swearing a life debt to Han anymore, too much like slavery.

And yes they blamed Star Wars fatigue for the failure of Solo, when it was really rage and we hate the new Disney trilogy, especially the Last Jedi that did it in.

But make no mistake, Filoni and the others are making good Star Wars stuff on Disney Plus, but Kathleen is still in charge. They had the chance to get rid of her and didn't. The new series of novels is the most ridiculous garbage ever, gay and non - binary characters, etc. Its 100% woke PC utter shit. I'm shocked nobody has a rainbow lightsaber yet. Its truly comical how bad it is.

My buddy and I think they should make a stand alone series called "The Outer Rim".
Have Hando be the lead and include a lot of random smaller characters from the original trilogy.

That would be cool. So many good characters from the Clone Wars series and EU they could do stories with or re-introduce.

Its sad because you get movies like Rogue One, and series like Clone Wars and Mandolorian, and see what they could do. Even Solo, which yes changed some things, but was still an enjoyable movie. (And who doesn't like Emilia Clarke?). Its a bummer Solo took so much heat, so we wont see any sequels.

I agree Rogue One was good, it filled in a lot of history from prior to the original trilogy. I started to watch Solo once but couldn't stay interested. Probably it was just too jarring to see some other guy playing the lead role. I saw the third trilogy and didn't really care for any of them. Everything after that, I haven't seen and don't plan to.

The redeeming quality in Solo was Lando. Donald Glover nailed that role.

With the exception of IV and V, Rogue One was better than any of the other movies. Clone Wars and Madalorian are excellent as well.

My sentiments too. Lando was well played.

The only scene in all the Star Wars movies where the good guys had worse aim than the Stormtroopers. Big Grin
