gonna have to look into more of his stuff "Meet me at the Creek" https://www.youtube.com/watch?...yQk&feature=youtu.be a bit as if Bluegrass and Grateful Dead and Metallica had a baby & named it Billy Strings. Some of the middle portion sounds a bit like old sitar riffs but with banjo & fiddle...etc. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

if you like Bluegrass, and the Dead, try some of Dave Grisman's stuff, he did a few albums with Garcia, and his Dawg Music is fantastic, most if all available from Acoustic Discs https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

A good album for that is The Pizza Tapes, which was literally a taped kitchen jam session with Garcia, Grisman, and Tony Rice. When in doubt, mumble

The Karmanator |
The band that contained Grisman and Garcia was called "Old and in the Way". Fantastic albums. And sorry, but the Pizza tapes were not recorded in a kitchen. The sessions were recorded in Grisman's studio. The tapes were stolen by a pizza delivery person.

And Vassar Clements on fiddle. I was fortunate to catch them live at several bluegrass festivals in Northern VA, shortly after they formed the group in 1973. When in doubt, mumble

So what of Billie Strings & friends? **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

They are good, but could use some aging/experience. The guitar player is a decent flatpicker, good even. We never got to hear the banjo take a break, and could easily have done away with the mandolin's break, which was weak. All in all, a good bluegrass performance. When in doubt, mumble
