Don't waste your time. Crappy ass movie, terrible effects, garbage story, and too damn hot in the theatre....that last one might not have been the movies fault. -wolff "In the absence of light, darkness prevails." - Professor Bruttenholm

Also having not read the novels, I liked it. It surprised me as a Stephen King movie that it ended pretty well. I assumed you must've not read the books. I can tell you, as someone who's read all the dark tower books five times over, I will not be seeing this abortion. I also stopped reading Stephen King almost ten years ago (his new works that is). ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

I read the books too, all of the series and will not be going to the theater to see it. I won't even get it at the Redbox when it comes out. The books were great and I'd say the film version could ruin it. YMMV I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

I came to that conclusion also. I think shortly after The Shining, I figured out that every Stephin King horror movie consisted of 18 chapters of build up, then 1 chapter of climax, and 1 chapter of epilogue. I have some other King novels though afterwards like It and about the guy who goes back in time to try to save JFK's assasination. The ending on that book was dissappointing though. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I haven't read the books or watched the movie. My brother read through the whole series, got to the end, and was so mad about how it ended that he swore the author off. Since I know how the books end, I wonder if the movie was true. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

I thought the first book was best. The last book of the series was crap. I stopped reading King a long time ago. I'll pass on seeing it in the theaters. I don't want to help the people who butchered the series into this movie. BTW- I heard that it is only 94 minutes long. That means a lot of it is lying on some editing room floor. Not a good sign. ----------------------------------- "If they don't go concentrating on meaningless cosmetic changes, like rainbow this or two-tone that, or wood grip panels from the ackabalacka tree"-Parabellum

I read the series and liked it, even though it starts getting fucking weird about 60-70% through. I saw the movie and liked it. Those of you who read the books all the way to the end and think that the movie is nothing like the books... Well you seem to have missed something ________________________________________________

I really wanted to like these books. I read four of them and they just never got good. I kept wondering what all the fan boys saw in this series. Mr. Mercedes was a decent read, as was it's sequel. But yeah, King is barely even trying anymore.

I thought the first book was excellent. I was highly intrigued with the lore and the feel of the world. Everything after that book was crap. (IMO) Shit the end was such a lazy piece of writing. I read part of the first book and thought it was ok at best. The movie was "meh" not bad bad, but not great either.

Yeah, Blane the Mono or something? About where I gave up on the books. The first couple were ok to good. Like most things, oversold and under performing.

I loved books 1-4. After the long hiatus, books 5-7 were strange at best, bad at worst but I loved the character and the world so I saw it through Wizard and Glass is my favorite. The back story of how Roland became Roland I didn't have much hope for the movie. And the reviews I'm Reading aren't making me likely to see it —————————————————— If the meek will inherit the earth, what will happen to us tigers?

I'm destined to see this as I'm a big fan of the books. I was hoping the reviews would be a little more positive.

Was he mad because he didn't follow the author's advice and actually read it to the end? If so it's your brother's fault. He was warned like the rest of us.
