I stumbled onto a new author (at least for me). Dan Kemp, ex-Army Airborne, turned writer. The series (four books so far) are about a fictional company (Athenaeum, Inc.) that operates as a contractor for the U.S. Government, in intelligence gathering (among other things -- legal and otherwise).

What I found really interesting were the detailed descriptions of weapons of all kinds. I'm not sure I have ever read books that spent so much time talking about military hardware, vehicles, aircraft, UAV's, etc. The author is obviously a
"gun guy".

The books (I'm currently reading the fourth one), beyond all of the gun stuff, are very well written and really entertaining.

They are worth a look.

Thank you. I am always looking for new authors who actually know what they're talking about.

Some of the popular big names are the worst for not knowing that. I see some of them mentioned here and I can only cringe.

I discovered the author last summer and read his first two books.

I will be honest, I was impressed how with how accurately and correctly he described the weapons, equipment, etc..

I know he is an Ex- ABN NCO and they should know weapons, tactics, etc. but sometimes they are the worst.

Another great author I like when I am looking for adventure and to read about weapons, and equipment is the Task Force Cobra: Strategic Risk by Jon Peak.

It is straight out over the top fun and excitement, plus I always learn or get spot checked on foreign weapons, equipment, vehicles, etc..
