Tonight’s game is game 4 of the 2001 World Series in NYC.
Yankees vs Diamondbacks
During The 7th Inning stretch they did God Bless America instead of Take Me Out to the Ball Game because of 9-11. It was beautiful! I sure wish our country were that united again.

I was a kid in the 80s and 90s so I just love watching these old games. I know all the players and no one is wearing these silly oven mitts while base running.
Would prefer 80s over the early 2000s but hey I am
Watching for freee so I can’t complain.

I read a sports illustrated article years ago that was answering the question "Is there a perfect moment in baseball?"

It was interesting. He discounted every decade for gambling, mafia style influence, bigotry, drugs, etc.
He settled on the early 90's and for the perfect moment, (which is also my favorite moment) he selected Sid Bream rounding 3rd to take home and win the Braves the NLCS in '93.

So here you go, the most perfect moment in baseball by the Braves most unlikely of hero.



And also, the Yankees "the Captain" warming up President Bush for his first pitch after 9/11. He told him, "dont bounce it . . "

Man I love this game.

At Braves game we still sing God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch of every game. A local opera tenor sings it about 90% of the time. Then everybody sings Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

But yeah the 90s were great for baseball, despite the roids. Maybe because of the roids. lol.

But the game still had a lot of gritty and tough players and characters. All sports are trying to take toughness out of the equation.
