Stargate for me is the huuuuuuuge one that should always be mentioned first. A decent movie over 25 years ago launched 18 seasons of interesting and GOOD sci-fi TV, not to mention 2 more movies.

Fargo. Never cared for the movie but absolutely loved the tv show.
