A man's got to know his limitations |
RIP Kirk Douglas, he was a great one. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock "If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." Clarence Worley

My favorite Kirk Douglas movie: "Ace in the hole"...1951. Movie takes a sharp poke at Journalism. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

Eschew Obfuscation |
Kirk Douglas did so many great movies that I managed to overlook Ace in the Hole until I noticed it at my library recently. What a pleasant surprise it was to "discover" it. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I remember being impressed by the movie, Paths of Glory. I just checked the date of the movie, 1957. I was 15 at the time.

Of all the great movies Douglas made Ace in the Hole is my favorite. Billy Wilder used him to perfection.

RIP Einar. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. It is the crucial test. None but the humane treat a cat well.” -- Mark Twain, 1902
